First Grow, thoughts?

morning Serf…nice harvest for you and hope it all dries well…

Thanks again everyone! I’m having a hard time now not giving into the urge of checking the buds. I hope I don’t have too much air movement. I guess that shouldn’t matter so long as humidity is where it should be. I had to increase the exhaust speed slightly to keep a little negative pressure or the room smells. Wife can’t even barely go in there when it does she wants to gag haha. If I can save even half the aroma during this dry I’ll be ecstatic.

Tent is holding 65-66F and 58-61% rH. Hope that’s good enough.

Ordered a cannabrush to help some with the trimming when dried as well.

Forgot to add the image of the tent environment readings. Outlet is the fogger. First 24hrs will have passed in about an hourish. I wonder if the leaves have wilted yet. They were still praying last night.

Forgot there are side windows/doors on the 5x5 could have just used this photo  . Leaves are drooping now and it smells great in there. Without checking each bud daily how can you be alerted to any mold? I assume the tent will have a moldy smell or something like an unfinished basement? Besides smelling like greens and pot it’s nice in there. Also have a scrubber going on in the lung room to try and keep air cleaner.

I have a 6" in the tent and two 4’s in the lung room. I don’t smell anything outside the tent anymore really. Just want to prevent any chances of mold.

I did order a trim bin. Figured I’m going to need it.

My plan is at day 16 I will trim and make them all neat, then put them into a tote for a day or two so all the buds equalize. If humidity is over 62 I’ll burp the tote until it is then into the grove bags. Super excited to hand out some homegrown to fam for Christmas.

Since I’ve got nothing to do but wait, I still want to pop a seed. I’ve not done cannabis in soil so have no idea really of what to use. I’d consider coco/peat but don’t want to be watering every day or multiple times keeping it wet. But I have 4 of these XL wicking self-watering bases and might as well use one for it.

For a complete noob to soil what would you guys recommend? I’d be using jacks in the water for nutes so won’t need it to be organic. Looking for something budget friendly and something I don’t really need to add things to like perlite but would added it if needed. I have 5G cloth bags already so I’m set there. I don’t mind if it’s has only a little nutrients in it requiring me to add my own after a week or so.

I plan on starting in a root riot plug, then into a 6x6" rockwool cube, then I guess into soil, unless I should not use the rockwool.

I can get this locally. Seems its amended peat, not sure how long the nutes in it last and if I can go to jacks after. only 30 bucks for 4cu ft which should fill a few 5gals.

I’ve seen a lot of people use the pro mix. Ive been using fox farms HF as it’s convenient. When I run out of what I have I will be doing a build a soil. This is what @SeaOhAreWhy uses and been thinking about swapping to it.

And honestly the more I read I’m really thinking about giving @OGIncognito recommendation of megacrop for nutes.

Really, it’s about trial and error in my eyes. I’m still a new grower with only a year and about 12 harvests so far. Each time I’ve been trying something a bit different.

I normally see pro mix HP i think its called but will the all purpose work and i just add liquid nutes when they are needed? Or is the all purpose more like miracle grow? Im looking for something i dont dry admend or add components to. I guess I’ll likely like have to go soil-less.

If considering soil-less, DWC is a low cost, effective method of growing. I have a 5 gallon bucket DWC system going atm moment and appreciate the limited time I spend watering :hugs:

Also, Jacks handshakes very nicely with hydro applications.

I’m a hydro only grower but wanted to try out some soil or soil-less alongside my DWC. I started out in a 5gal bucket with a chiller then moved to a 27gal tote.

This was after taken right after the move to new tent

I guess I will go with that Pro Mix All Purpose which is just peat and perlite and already pH buffered. I plan on growing tomatoes and peppers in it too but also one cannabis plant. I’ll germinate in a root riot plug then put it into a 5gal fabric pot and on the wicking base. I’ve not decided if I want to cut two holes and run the wicks up into the soil and put soil around it or just leave them at the base.

Just found a mature seed in one of my larf buds I was grinding. Pretty stoked.

Oh forgot to say this. So has anyone else noticed their buds get frostier during hanging? Not sure if it’s hanging them with all the leaves that is letting it produce some more trichomes before it dries or what. Some of my sugar leaves have turned into trichrome central and buds getting frosty. I was reading that a cut plant can live and do stuff for about 3 days not sure if that is true or not.

Right on, my brotha! I’m guilty of not reading upstream far enough
Beauty of a set up there…organized and clean!
I’ve used the AP from ProMix on veggies before and loved the results. For personal and regional preferences, I added a scoop of perlite to every 5 gallons to help with quicker dry back.
Happy growing Growmie!

Having a hard time finding any promix now locally ugh.

On a side note, the govee mini thermo/humidity reader fits perfect into the germination squares.

Put in the seed i found in the larf to see if she germinates. If so then she will go in a 1gal mason jar and krakty style because why not?

morning Serf…been away for a few days… I saw where you had lots of air movement on your hanging stems…if you have toooo much air movement the outside of the bud will dry fast and you will have lots of kief fall off during your breaking down of the branches to cure size buds…
