First Grow, thoughts? Update: Harvested

So if you’re at day 3 or 4 check the res and its gone up to 1000 you’d dilute down till 800 or less, correct? If thats the case and say it raises back up to 1000 by day 7. Would you fill it back up until 800 or less? Thats what i have been wonder about for res changes. Do you really need to change it? Then if the next time you test its gone below 800 do a full change and add nutes.

I know the ppm is ambiguous as we dont know exactly how many ppm is of what mineral to make up that number. Would doing this be bad? I suppose if deficiencies appeared you’d know its time but I guess wouldnt need to get to that point if you had a change every x days. Im not worried about saving nutrients but I wouldn’t mind getting their full use before dumping.

morning Serf…like you said you really don’t know what your girl has taken in when you read your PPM numbers and this is why I change out every 7 days… this way the nutrient plate gets reset…and if the ppm goes up it means she is drinking more than eating and so my mind says dilute before she gets overloaded and has a nutrient lock out or burn…these numbers are not to be some exact thing…I think of it more as a ball park to stay within… I will shoot to stay above 700ppm during the week after a change out…so if I added no nutes RO water to get the level back up and I saw the PPM was below 700 I would add some nutrients to get it up if I had several days before the next change out…if it is just a day or so I would not try to get the ppm higher before the change out…remember the plant does store nutrients so having them use them for a day or so is not a bad thing…

Bumper harvest on the way

Two new dehumidifiers used in my grow this past year.

Both produced 4.0-5.0PH water that even when mixed (6.5PH), was toxic to plants in grow tents and outdoor plants.

Should have been free RO water, but killed my flowers faster than I could believe. Not so with OLD dehumidifier, but it died after 8 years continuous use.

I would recommend caution and measure PH/PPM always.

Awesome video! Gonna have a nice harvest.

I have a hOmeLabs 4,500 Sq. Ft 70 pint dehumidifier. I’ve used probably 20+ gals of it to feed this girl. The pH runs about the same as my straight RO with 0ppm. Didn’t notice anything negative using it.

I’m pretty stoked how well she has turned out. There are a handful of things I’ve learned to fix on the next run which I think will make it even better. I never knew cannabis trunks got so thick. I’ve seen some fist sized one on here but most seem to be pretty skinny.

Moving to the larger tub early flower I think has helped quite a bit too. Her roots have stopped being such a tight ball and really opening up. I think she might have been root bound in the 5gal bucket. I also doubled the air pumps to help get more o2 in there. Jacks being pretty much clear also is whitening up the roots vs the dyes in GH.

This is week 4ish. Flipped Sept 29th, saw hairs around Oct 3-4. Wonder how much larger they will get.

Todays goal is getting the ceiling hole cut and ducting installed. Then I’ll move to the new room and tent this week.

Wow. That’s wild. Never had an issue with use. Maybe clean the coils? Some kinda oil or sumthin doing this with the New one.

New ONES (two).
Beats the Snot out of me.
Two grows of flowers lost.
Outdoor sunflowers have ED
Don’t have a clue, but not worth my using.
Best to you.

There was a article i read that did a test on a handful of dehumidifiers and their water. It was all sent out to labs for testing. No heavy metals or contamination were found. You could technically drink it if you had to without worry. I’d still probably boil it before I drank it but other than that definitely safe for plants.

Almost done.

Ugh, the light I used is on sale even cheaper now. I might buy a second for the other 5x5.

Starting to think im getting fox tails. Weird skinny growth at the tops of buds. Been raising my lights about 5 clicks of the ratchet thingies a few times this week. Ill get a photo later today. Had i known a single plant could fill out this much when i got my light id have gone with one that had a larger footprint. If i want the outer buds to get over 600ppfd the center gets 900-1200ppfd or more.

Moving the girl to the new room and tent tomorrow. Not looking forward to it but it will be a good thing. Hoping the exhaust to the attic works without issue. Went ahead and bought a waterproof 8 outlet power block so i can keep all the power wires inside the tent and make it all look cleaner than the mess I have right now. Really excited about the aci tent having a mount area for the pro controller and passthrough for the wires built into the tent like vivosun does.

If i were to upgrade my light what would be recommended? Looking at more budget friendly chinesium lights that are under 400 bucks. Something closer to actual 4’x4’ physical dimensions. I’m eying a few in the 600 to 720w range but worried about longevity. I also dont need that much wattage but cant get the size without it being higher. I really dont plan on flowering more than one plant at a time and training it to fill out at least 4x4 in the 5x5.

Which lights have caught your eye the most?

41.53"L x 41.33"W

40"L x 40"L ( I like this one has a Warranty )

‎44"L x 44"W (Best wattage for the money and footprint with UV/FR)

‎43.86"L x 43.66"W (Same brand I have now but their older 480w version. I’d get this but it’s a bit much)

Current light is 34"L X 30"W

When do you start seeing yellowing and bad leaves when in flower? I’m in week 5 I think now and stuff is popping up on top leaves as well as upward tacoing. Could be the switch to jacks and not keeping up on the ppm/pH drifts.

I like the chart numbers on that one.

What’s your ppfd/dli at. Usually when they taco like that it’s due to light intensity.

That’s typically what my issues stem from. What’s your ph and ppms looking like?
