Aloha, So legit 1st time grower. I have been doing a lot of reading and watching YouTube growers. Since starting this journey I have made a few mistakes. I thought I had auto flower for the last 55 days. Then I read the seed package and read feminized seeds. Today marks day 1 of week 2 for flower. If I realized initially they were photos I would have only grew 1 plant. Now, I have two super vegged bushes in a 2x2. The struggle is real trying to control humidity and soon to be height. I hope I can pull off a respectable yield in the next few weeks.
That looks like a full tent!
Are you growing in soil/coco? pot size? Nutrients? etc
Oceanforest soil in 3 gal pots. Been using the big bloom and just started adding tiger bloom nutrients last week. Been keeping my PH in between 6.2 and 6.7. The strain is Critical Mass. They have grown 1 to 1 1/2 inches a day for the last 7 days. I bought a 55 pint dehumidifier three days ago and have gotten my RH down to 62% as of today Vent is at 95% and fan is almost all the way powered up. Light intensity is at 65% and is currently at 13 inches. Going to have to zip tie light to the ceiling and I’ll get another 7 inches in distance. I would have topped if I knew it was a photo. This will be a good lesson to learn from.
That stretch will get ya!
seems like you have a good handle on things. Nice healthy looking canopy. Great job so far! ![]()
Looking good, 2x2 space will be tight finishing up. Good luck ![]()
This might be week one of flower..
Takes at least a week or two after flip to start flowering…
Everything is looking good..
If you run out of space might have to start super cropping them..
Keep up the good work..
Happy Growing
Thank you, I just read up on what super crappy is exactly. Is it safe enough to do too a plant that is on the second day of the second week of flower? Being that it is considered high stress. Or would I benefit more from just really tying them all down? I am a little hesitant to top it as I don’t want to mess up my very first run ever. I definitely would have been topping if I read the package and realized that they were feminized
Thank you, do you have any advice on things I may do to manage the small space that worked for you?
Judging by them pics you still have another week of transition time before full flower starts. They have a lot of stretch left. You’ll probably need to do some thinning to ensure good airflow and prevent rot or WPM. A second fan blowing up through the canopy would help too. Super cropping is high stress, but getting too close to the light is also stressful so super cropping some of the tallest stuff might be the lesser of two evils when the time comes. Cannabis is a lot tougher than a lot of new growers might think. What kind of light do ya have?
Clean up around the bottom of the plants to help with good airflow. I usually try to allow 2x2 space for one plant and that’s steel tight. This is one way to look at it.You can fill up the 2x2 space with one plant by spreading out the limbs, or you can fill it up with two plants and end up with about the same amount of yield.
Input or runoff?
What kinda water are you using?
Not bad for this time, but as you progress this could become an issue. What is the air conditions of your lung room (the room your growspace draws in its fresh air) and what do you with the expelled air from i side your growspace?
Where do you keep the dehu?
Depending on your light this could be kinda close. Avg hang height on a light is 18-24 inches. What kind of DLI are you getting?
Next time just top before you flip, also running autos at like 20/4 yeilds great results.
They would be fine to super crop even a couple weeks into flower…
Happy Growing
@BluegrassHaole if you believe your space will be too overwhelmed, you can cut some branches off and make them into clones.
This will allow you to continue growing this particular strain. If you need any information on the cloning process, check out the forums on ilgm, ask the growmies on here, or check YouTube videos for visual learning.
Welcome to a hobby that will keep you going for many years to come.
I have a spider farmer 1000. So just 100 watts. Yeah, I made a couple mistakes and they bounced back in the early stages. I left the humidifier on for 24 hours on high and I had the exhaust fan off and when I woke up to check on them, everything was soaking wet. I was freaking out they were like 14 days older at that point. They recovered within 12 hours as I dried all the water up with a towel and turned everything on full blast. I just don’t wanna press my luck by making too many mistakes hoping it’ll bounce back each time.
That’s my input on the PH. My lung room is at 48%RH normally. It raised to 51% after the dehumidifier was placed in the room. and I need to run the exhaust out the window. I didn’t think of that. ![]()
What does your runoff look like as far as ph and tds/ec?
The dehu adds heat to the lung room making the air able to hold more moisture which is being added to your lung room by your tent/plants. Venting that moisture outside will probably help some. Look into a portable air conditioner window exhaust kit. Like this one.
Like I said humidity isnt bad now but later in flower you want it low in the tent 50-55%
I never thought to check the run off. Will do at next watering. Appreciate the idea. I’m guessing it should be the same?![]()
It shouldnt be unless you are flushing out the soil. Runoff can tell you alot about whats going on in your soil…
Nutrients will bring down your soil ph. Too much nutrient, too low ph for the plant to eat it. Runoff can tell you (roughly) how much nutrient is currently loaded in the medium. By measuring the tds of your runoff you can judge if your plant is eating, or has enough to eat. My advice there is if the tds is below 1000ppm its a good time to feed.
Runoff can also tell you about the ph of the medium. Its not percise as say a soil ph meter but it is helpful to track it. In soil you want your ph around 6.5 my advice here is to track this everytime you input. If your runoff is under 6.5 you would want to input at 6.5 to adjust up at the next input. If its over 6.5 you would want your next input at 6.3 to adjust down.
With FFOF you will want to follow their feed/flush schedule or at least take a hard look at your records around those times to see if a flush is warranted.
A flush is when you would want the runoff to be the same as input. Think of a flush as reseting the soil.
Runoff should be around 10-15% of input. Dont pour too fast or the liquid will just run around the edge of the pot and out. You want it to run through the media.
What he said
. IMO you’ll also have better luck with FF trio if you start at half strength and go up from there as needed. It helps reduce the need to flush.
