First Grow DWC White Widow & AK47

Uh…
Nice trunk, dude!
And nice roots, too!
Super healthy growth.
Looks like you will be rewarded in a couple months, when you are burping your harvest, smelling the great stinky bud.
Keep it up.

Got over my fear of defoliating (mostly…). Found like 1000 bud sites…(lol)

Scrog is filling in nicely at the 1 week mark into flower. The ww is moving a little slower than the the ak47. Strange because this is opposite what they looked like in early veg. The ww is stiff and “woody” where the ak is softer and more flexible.

I also swapped out my hlg qb v1 for an Rspec qb288 v2 from Meijiu (which I’m very impressed with so far!)

They look pretty good, but I’m seeing some strangeness that maybe someone here can help me diagnose? I’m seeing light colored patches, some older leaves with brown spots and also signs of leaf damage. I’ve not seen any sign of anything that would be eating leaves… no sign of cat droppings, nothing flying around in the tent…On the apparently munched leaves, which are maybe 2 leaves per day…I’ve looked under 60x microscope and seen no sign of anything.

I’m wondering: Spider mites? Fungus? Cal/mag deficiency? Lights too close?

Thoughts?

FYI nutrients are advanced connoisseur bloom at full strength with some of their additives (big bud, piranha, and bud candy per their schedule)

Reading on the AN site looks like maybe my bucket is too cold…gonna go check my temps.

I dealt with spider mites. They are so small I needed 60x magnification to see them. I do not think they would be taking large bites out of leaves. They would be building spider webs if they got of control, after sucking juices from your plants. Hope that helps

Thanks. Yes that helps

I’m thinking (hoping?). It’s just me being a brute in the tent… but wanted to ask as this is kinda strange in that there’s not a lot of damage ever…just the odd leaf here and there.

I’m thinking my coloring is nutrient take-up slow due to low overnight temps. I put the heater back in the tent to keep it above 70 overnight (it’s 78 during the day)

My mite spotting damage spread pretty quick over one plant. It never got to the web building, except for maybe an inch long section of strands starting. I seriously sprayed the crap out of all my plants and focused on the underside of the leaves. I did it multiple times, for a couple weeks. I think just doing that must have knocked a lot of them off. I even did it with ph correct water.

Thanks…I don’t see any rapid spread, but as I’m only just starting week 2 of flower, I’ll probably hit the spray just in case.

It might not be because of bugs. I’m not sure about your cause. I was lucky with mine. I eventually confirmed mine by watching one marxh around a leaf at 60X. I did start spraying before I confirmed. Heck, balanced water dont hurt anything. I really dont know the cause of yours, though. I hope someone can help you further.

Yes it’s very strange…I found another leaf today that looked like that one I posted where it looks like a big bite has been taken out of it.

I hit the plant with insecticidal soap…tops and undersides where I could get to them. Strictly preventative. Also swapped out nutes today (weekly schedule) and am making sure it doesn’t get too cold overnight in the tent…

Hopefully keeping the tent warmer will do the trick. I’m not sure how I’d warm the water in the bucket as it sits below the tent. It’s also getting warmer in the basement by a few degrees due to spring. Fingers crossed that all is OK. Plants look fantastic other than these few spots. Growing like weeds! LOL

Nice grow. Your tent is a bit small. Short mostly but… it is what you have. I think you should give your plants CalMag every watering. It cannot have too much. I want to try to grow hydroponically some day. Right now though my girls will be outside for the summer. Good luck and I will be watching.

Thanks!

I agree on the tent…I’ve got the buckets “below” the tent, so I have more grow room than it would seem, but my next grow will be in a 4x4x7. I’ve got clones that I’m trying to root for it now.

I wish I could try an outdoor grow as well! Unfortunately I live in an open subdivision and here in Michigan there’s no way I can grow and meet the legal requirements (Not visible from the street, fenced in, etc).

I’ve added some Mammoth P. It’s supposed to help with the uptake of certain nutrients, so we’ll see what that does. If it doesn’t help in a few days I’ll probably call AN and see what they think about adding cal-mag back in.

Calmag and if there’s only one leaf like that its manmade.

Thanks, OK I’ll add some calmag.

It is funny because I actually did the same thing. I never grew pot before in my life and I tossed a couple of seeds in my Aerogarden and they started growing. I decided because I was sure the aerogarden was going to be short I bought the same size tent you did. Then said fuck it and bought the 4x4x8 cause I had the room. I was going along great and my schedule changed and I had to put the girls outside. I put that all in this grow journal.

Anyway you will enjoy the grow process. I left a lot of mine to mother nature but your indoor grow requires more attention. Also I would look at lighting as a future purchase. If you are restricted to an indoor grow than the most important thing that your plants cannot get is enough light. But that is for future for you . Have fun I am just beginning growing this year. My two girls are still very young. Maui Wowie’s

Thanks! Maui wowie is on my grow todo list…good luck with them!

I’m invested in qb lights so now it’s a matter of making sure I have enough. I downloaded an app to measure ppfd but I’m not exactly sure yet how to use it. I think I can add way more light, but I think I’ll experiment on the next round.

Here’s where they’re at on the eve of the start of week 3 flower. Just barely starting to show their buds…

good choice on the lights. Lighting is really key. Nothing beats the sun for lighting but those LEDs do come close. I wish I had a bigger set of lights in my tent but at the moment a friend is using it. It won’t be long the girls will be outside so they will just have to live with it. It is snowing here still on April 18.

Looks like that here as well…

At first glance I thought those were really frosty buds…turns out its just really frosty lol…

Still flying the colors through the storm.
For better or worse.
Wait, I’m mixing up the oaths I’ve taken, and you probably have taken both also.
The colors look good with that background.
