FGI Brand - Any good?

Any thoughts on FGI brand lights?

I am looking to add UVA and possibly far red lighting to my grow room and came across these two on Amazon:

or this…

Thoughts?

I currently have 600 watts of LED that I use to grow 2-3 plants. (ChilledLED and HLG)

Thanks everyone!

Never heard of them but they advertise quality stuff… Will they plug into your current lights. Or needs buying another timer. And what improvment over your current lights’ spectrum. I dunno dont have an answer but just things I would consider. Doesnt take much blue or uv to keep a plant compact. I think the FR might be more valuable especially with flower development.

Bugbee uses that brand for testing. Yes, they are good. I personally own 4 of the UVA. Usually they are cheaper in 2 packs, and you want 2 per 4x4 space.

They plug in separately from your primary lights.

I typically grow 2-3 plants, do you think two lights will be overkill?

It’s about coverage vs targeting plants. Keep in mind UVA is naturally occurring outside, but not as much with grow lights. So you are simply broadening the spectrum. Over the course of a few years I’ve done several runs with and without the use of uva. At different intervals, front to back, just flower, just end of flower, and even in a mother/clone/seedling tent. N because I couldn’t really see a difference from run to run aside from genetics i tested side by side with 18 different plants. 9 on one side with, 9 on the other without, and determined through my own experience it was not worth the extra wattage. Others claim otherwise, for me, I couldn’t justify the juice. I don’t play with red, just seems like too much of an effort. Most growth can be manipulated without extra lights.

If it were me, I’d put the money somewhere else that may need improvement before jumping into supplementals. Or if you are already at that point, go ahead and play. Just don’t expect any real differences. Most of my grow time I’ve spent testing products, and trying to justify the hype trains I eagerly jumped. Now I’m getting some of the best results I’ve seen by keeping it simple. Just food for thought. When considering light purchases, do your best so fill the space appropriately vs plant count.

What other suggestions or best practices do you implement to upgrade your grow room?

I have (2) HLG 135’s and a ChillLed X3-330 so I think I am in decent shape for lights. I have AC Infinity exhaust, exhaust controller, and AC Infinity temp/humidity controller.

I was thinking of upgrading the AC Infinity controller to the one that can control everything, but the way my room is, I really only need the exhaust fan running, so a new controller seems like a waste as I barely use heat/humidity.

I also have a large 70 pint dehumidifier for the instances that’s needed as well.

I don’t like to waste money, so if the UVA is negligible, I will definitely save and use it elsewhere.

I definitely appreciate your feedback.

That’s the only thing I don’t want to tell ya what to do. Lol. I don’t use a controller either. there are people that swear by it. I’d research research research. If you are already dialed in and things are working well, up to you on what’s next.

Sorry for the short answer

Off to work

No worries! I mean I want to buy something for the grow room, but I don’t have to lol.

You could always invest in something that you routinely have to buy. IE carbon filters or exhaust upgrades. I know that’s not as exciting though. LOL

When I get the itch to do something I try and make something I already have just function better. :man_shrugging:t3:
