I wish I could fit more in there

Speaking of which… I myself am considering changing out to a bigger tray. A perfect one would be maybe 42"x42". It’s lunch time… guess I’ll go look and see what I can find.

What tray do you speak of?

I’m using an ebb and flow system with a 3x3 flood tray. I have a 4x4 tent… I am thinking next grow when I trim the plants up to single colas I will be not using all my space, so considering a bigger tray. I don’t think I can fit a full 4x4 tray in there.

How does the ebb and flow work if you don’t mind me asking

It’s pretty simple. You have an external reservoir and flood your plants for brief periods a few times per day period. How often and for long depends on the size of the plants and the kind of medium you are using (i.e. how much water it holds).

In my case, I have a 40 gallon reservoir under a “flood tray” (a 3’x3’ tray with 6" depth). Last grow I just put one gallon cloth pots in the tray (on top of a layer of river rock). This grow I fashioned a lid for the tray and hung net pots off of it. Right now I am flooding for 20 minutes every two hours during lights on. It takes about 10 minutes for my tray to completely drain, so the plants’ roots are underwater for around 30 minutes out of every two hours during the day period.

Here is Robert’s write up on ebb and flow:

Ebb and flood systems

The ebb and flood system is another option for hydroponics enthusiasts. The ebb and flood system functions with simple parts. To do it, you’ll need a table at least 10cm deep, a nutrient solution reservoir, a pump, and a sheet of opaque plastic to protect the roots from light.

Ebb and flood system

You just temporarily flood the root systems of your plant with nutrient solution, then let it drain back into the reservoir. Most growers have all of this attached to an automated system which floods the roots at regular intervals.

You’ll also want to make sure you have an overflow pipe set up in case something gets clogged. Your pump will fill up the table with a nutrient solution until it reaches the overflow level, then it will drain back out after giving the roots enough time to absorb it. The most complicated part of this system is figuring out how long to wait between flooding and draining.

Sure beats watering 30 little plants

Yes it does. In full flower with a more or less full tent I need to add water every three days, but could go 5 days if I really, really had to.

On the flip side, I have clones that have been in one gallon coco/perlite pots for the past three weeks or whatever and I need to water them/feed them every single day. Which is already getting really old and using up my nutes faster than I would like - by a lot.

How much is a 3x3 yielding

More than enough. Heh. My first run in the tray I got just a shade over a pound jarred up. I don’t have the tray filled up this time around - only 7 plants, but I didn’t trim them up at all and only tried to LST them and spread them out, so about 2/3rds of my available space is filled out right now.

I estimate around 10-12oz probably in the current grow. Once I refill the tray with clones on the next iteration I’ll start to get a better sense of the possibilities. I’m new to this kind of growing… I can more adequately tell you what I can get with a 4x4 scrog.

Thanks for the info. I have 25 plants in mine so we shall see.

@dbrn32 so I had an extra QB laying around and I loaned it to my dad for his veggie plants. Man did they make them explode. It’s fynny that he didn’t say a word about why I had it. Lol

He probably already knows.

Hey guys sorry I haven’t been more active but for some reason I’ve been dealing with a nasty bout of depression for the last couple weeks. Has anyone had a JH finish up flowering innabout 50 days?? I got one that is super cloudy already with a few Amber. Just wondering if that’s unheard of??

Sounds pretty early to me. Take care of yourself and holla if you need to talk.
