Doc’s Organic Autos

Well the CBD1 got chopped on Saturday, I looked at trichomes with my scope and they were pretty much all cloudy with some amber on the upper buds.

I had to leave town for a few days but they’re drying at about 55% RH and about 70F when I left, bit it’s cooled down a little so that’s good.

The CBD2 is still going, it was planted about a week after the first one but I think it has about 2 weeks to go. Sorry no pics of her this time.

I also planted one of the “mystery” purple punch seeds, using SIPs again in organic soil, reused the Roots Organic Lush with some Roots Organic terp tea blended in for amendments.

I say “mystery” because it was a photo plant that may have been pollinated by an auto, so it may be an auto, we’ll see…it may have pollinated itself but I never found any sacs or nanners… she’s a mystery… if she’s even a she

All for now I guess :sunglasses:

Hey @Roadsideorganics.ok can your top dressings be used with sub-irrigated planters or do they need to be regularly watered in from the top? I do top feed on occasion but they get most of their water from below. Any recommendations?? I’ve been using Roots Organic terp teas but I think they want more and I’m trying to simplify as much as I can.

Thanks😎

@WhatsupDoc It can definitely be used on a SIP, i would just recommend adding a a layer of soil or compost over top of the topdressing, and water in when applied, to help keep it all moit and the microbiology breaking it down. Have lots of growers already using it for autos as well

I topdress my SIP and it works great. I just scratch in ammendments then add a layer of compost. I add bakashi bran on the very top to help get things breaking down.

Thanks @Roadsideorganics.ok what would you recommend, the green mountain veg and back road blooms?

Yes, Green Mountain Veg in veg, then switch to Back Road Blooms for flower. I like to topdress with Back Road Blooms 3-5 days before i flip to flower, so that some of the key nutrients are available as they are needed most going into flower.

So a quick update on Doc’s Organic Autos… CBD1 is dry and curing in grove bags, and a couple mason jars. I got a total of 7.5 oz from the biggest auto I’ve grown. About 3 oz is nice medium dense buds, the remaining 4.5 oz is light fluffy but very resinous buds. I’ll make concentrate and edibles from it.

Believe it or not but this is the first time I’ve cured in jars, I’ve always used grove bags. I have end to lose the smell and terpene profile after the cure. They still smell like weed not hay but much milder. I’ve wondered if it was the grove bags so it’ll be interesting to compare between the grove and jars.

I also just chopped CBD2, I think it could’ve gone another week but it had lots of nanners and pretty much all cloudy trichomes so I thought it was time (found some nanners on cbd1 also). Buds are significantly more dense on this one, looking forward to trimming her.

I’m pretty sure the loose buds on cbd1 was from the light stress she got. I shoulda done something a little sooner but overall I’m really happy with the final outcomes…all but the white widow.

I don’t think I mentioned the WW had a really small shallow root structure, not much bigger than the solo cup she started in, that means she never really got any nutes from the SoHum living soil she was in. That certainly explains the deficiencies I saw. I guess I’ll try the SoHum again, but not just yet…

Very interesting. I’ll be doing my very first harvest (knock wood) sometime late summer, so I’ll be watching to see how I should do it!

I’m starting to realize that I don’t care for burping jars, and I only have a few, can’t imaging burping a dozen or more jars, although I guess a dozen isn’t much more work than a few.

Hey @Mozzy do you reuse your lush and if so what/how do you amend it? Thanks :sunglasses:

I have not tried that, and at ~1/3 a bag of soil per 1/4lb+ auto, I haven’t been motivated to try:
