Do I have to use carbon filter?

If I’m not worried about smell because my exhaust is on the roof could I run my inline fan without a carbon filter to help lower temperature?

A carbon filter is not necessary for anything other than managing smell.

Re temp: more airflow is always better and carbon filters do restrict airflow a bit.

I’ve never ran a carbon filter before, but I’m not concerned about smell.

That will not help if you have neighbors. Once flowering starts, if you don’t want the smell to get out, you need a carbon filter. MHO.
