DIY Rosin Press

I played with using different amounts of hash disks. @bob31 The first run in the tea bag was about 1/2 gram and then the first run without the tea bag was the other half of the disk. The third was a big chunk (probably about a gram) and I did wonder if it would be too big but that’s the one that gave me the most return which makes sense since it was more product. I couldn’t get the flat iron any lower of a temp so if it’s too high I’m S-O-L but I did it for 1 minute, then checked it and did it for another minute. And I did a second run on each one in new parchment as I had seen that done too (they fold it over on it’s self and then press it again). I’m hoping it’s a learning curve too because using 2 grams of product to get less than a gram kind of stinks. Having said that if/when I get enough to make a batch of vape if it rock my world it will all be worth it!

@Hogmaster I don’t understand your first sentence. I did press them into pucks, I just didn’t have the pressing bags that I see the big presses using and that CB suggested so decided to improvise (unsuccessfully) with the tea bag. I think I might order the bags before I try again.

All kief for this round @Hogmaster. I had zero success when I tried buds a week or so ago.

You have to press the buds into pucks to it makes a big difference

It will taste completely different Turpines will be through the roof and it will be a lighter color usually the first press is best color I used to put my iron in a vice

Awesome. Thanks @Hogmaster. I will give that a try. Plus this kief was from trim and airy bud so maybe from straight flower it will better. That gives me some hope.

How did that batch of butter/oil come out for you?

@AnneBonny how did you get that kief? from a shaker?

5 gallon Bubble bags and dry ice @bob31. Super easy.

What a dope I am! I just scrolled up and reread what @Countryboyjvd1971 told me and he said to press the bud in my pollen press ~ I need to clean my glasses.

You do the same thing with Keif I just need to be in a micron bag 120 µm down to 60 With the bubble bags in the dry ice you have to really watch the color when shaking don’t take much to get all the goodies off of trim

I have to just give you a little👍’s up because i used my 5-gallon ice bubble hash bags this morning! I used all my trim and loose airy buds from my last harvest.
Anyway sorry to interrupt just thought that was kind of funny. Take care and happy growing! Good luck with your press.

I came here a bit late on the conversation.

I had a question about using stems and roots in my other thread, someone mentioned ‘Rosin’. So, I start to look into this process and found you can use slug .33 to get the juice. There are a few ‘how to’ on youtube, search term “slug .33 rosin”. A few Youtube videos selling the slug .33 for somewhere from $60 - $90. But I am sure it can be bought somewhere else for less than that. Or something similar to a slug that does the same thing? (I don’t even know how to search to find the replacement of slug .33 maybe someone here may have an idea.)

The Vise can be expensive depends on the size, function, and quality, but you can get drill press vise fairly cheap, the cost somewhere between $19 - $25.

Have anyone used this method? I am nowhere near this stage, but nonetheless, I am interested in ‘rosin’ press. I am sure creative minded, DIYers here may come up with the way to press the ‘rosin’ without spending a big $$.

Sure that would probably work along with some stainless steel heating plates. :+1:

I have a t-shirt press I’m going to try. I got it on ebay cheap.

There is “juice” in the entire plant that you can extract, but the liquid in stems does not have trichomes - hence - it’s pretty much chlorophyll water.
