Hi

This is my first indoor grow and after following alot of advice on this forum it was going great.

Last week I noticed spots on the leaves. I checked the roots then and they didn’t look out of the ordinary. However today I checked again and this is what I found.

I’ve read that roots stain from the nutrients. They dont have a smell to them and don’t appear slimy. I’ve changed the reservoir to plain water that has sat overnight and cal-mag and Current Cultures UC roots as a substitute for hydroguard.

There are no light leaks. I have two airstones with a decent amount of bubbles. The tent usually sits around 22 - 24 (71-75) degrees and I have the intake fan close to the tank so its got the little extra cool on it.

I’m lost as to what to do next.

Welcome to the forum, great people around to help you.

IMO it’s wind burn.

Is your fan blowing through the plant? The fans needs to be blowing over the top, think of a gentle breeze.

Wow. Had never heard of wind burn before. I’ll adjust the fan when I’m done with work today. What do you think about the roots?

You want the plant to shake a little with the breeze, it strengthens the stem.

IDK about your roots, mine sit in soil 🙂

I’m seriously worried it’s root rot. The root system has doubled in size since I last looked at it but the brown tinge is a worry.

What is your water temperatures?
What nutrient line are you using?
I wouldn’t be that worried as long as they’re not slimy and don’t smell. Hydroguard comes highly recommended to resolve any root issues. As long as temps are inline.

I know enough to be dangerous really. We can tag them after

Your hydro growers to tag are:
@ Myfriendis410 @ peachfuzz @ TDubWilly and @ Bogleg

But I didn’t. I spaced the @ symbols so it didn’t tag them. I was waiting for the response. I didn’t want to unnecessarily tag them yet. But the OP at least knows who to tag.

Temp is around 19 - 21 degrees Celsius. I’m using the canna line of nutrients as well as current culture as a substitute for hydroguard since it’s difficult to get down under and professor greens cal - mag. I’ve trimmed the affect leaves just to be sure. I’ll update when I get home today. You’ve got me worried it’s the easy onset of root rot.

@Myfriendis410 @peachfuzz @TDubWilly @Bogleg

Tag them like that?

Yes that’s how you tag someone. I think you have nothing to worry about, canna line has a bit of a brown color to it. (I have some) your temps are in line, so I think you’re in good shape.

The amount of air is concerning. It should look like a rolling boil. Basically a lot more air than you think you need, and you’re there. Lol

Ok firstly, you guys have been so helpful. It’s quite surprising how friendly and efficient everyone is here.

I’ll get bigger airstones today and adjust the fan settings then reinstate the nutrients in a day or so? How long should I let it flush for do you think?

This is going to be a problem if it isn’t already. A larger amount of liquid will help to maintain conditions longer: in flower you will be changing and filling the rez daily. PH swings are also common.

If you are using a net pot I would strongly suggest, at the least, to rig up a larger plant rez. Black totes work well for this and are cheap. A 27 gallon tote would leave you with around 18 gallons of liquid to work with. That will buffer nicely.
