The main reason for putting the buds in the fridge over night is incase there’s any bugs the cold will cause them to go to sleep/dormant. When I wash the buds I use four 5gal buckets. Bucket #1 has 2 cups of Dr Zymes eliminator and water at 85° bucket #2 has 10 cups hypochlorous acid and water at 85°. Buckets #4 and 5 have just water at 75° The shock of going from the fridge to 85° water helps keep the bugs from clinging on or crawling deeper into the buds and the Dr Zymes kills a lot of them.
Using hypochlorous acid (HOCl) for a post-harvest bud wash is a highly effective, organic method to eliminate powdery mildew, mold spores, dust, and pests from your cannabis flower. HOCl is an oxidative weak acid that kills pathogens instantly on contact without degrading trichomes or altering flavor profiles.
Unlike harsh chemical sanitizers, HOCl is completely surface-active, biodegradable, and breaks down naturally into water and a tiny trace of salt, leaving zero toxic residues.

Congrats on the TQ harvest, she’s a healthy beauty! :star_struck:

In highly diluted amounts, hypochlorous acid is even used in skin care.

Thank you for breaking it down :star_struck:

I’m sticking with the water/hydrogen peroxide wash, though I love the idea of using lukewarm water in the 1st bucket with Dr. Zymes, I usually use whatever comes out of the hose, an extra rinse bucket a great a idea too…I usually shower them off a bit with water nozzle on low before and after dunking them. I use a screened colander with handle if I break it down off the stem 1st.

I am going to try and be more gentle this season, the buds I have taken for samples so far I have just gently hosed off, and hung to dry before putting in paper bags :four_leaf_clover::evergreen_tree::slot_machine: about a day or 2 later.

I know I have plenty of room to up my washing game :factory::heart_eyes::slot_machine:

This is the 1st time Ive used both Dr Zymes and Hypochlorous acid but there were so many bugs on the HellfireOG I wanted to make sure I washed everything real good. After everything is dry and put away I take my fogger into my lung room with Hypochlorous acid in it and fog the room until the fogger is empty.

I have some Dr. Zymes, perhaps I will try some too. My washing/drying is done outside in the backyard and covered patio, then moved into climate controlled blackout room :four_leaf_clover::factory::evergreen_tree:

I just ordered a couple filters for the garden hoses, I have used the boogie blue ones in the past, trying a couple different ones this time. I didn’t use them this grow, because they reduce water pressure a bit, I run two hoses from the same faucet for 2 separate lines, with the same timer. I need one for the bud washing hose to help remove the chlorine and other stuff in the tap water.

Mrs. Big123 insists on the purified/distilled water from water store for drinking water, helps her get exercise too. It does taste better, though I can’t bring myself to use for bud washing, I do spray the Mary Jane ladies with the fancy water whenever I must spray them:evergreen_tree::four_leaf_clover::slot_machine::factory:

I use it when they are seedlings :seedling: too :sun:

Im using citric acid and baking soda, bout 1/4 cup per 10g of water, then peroxide, then a double rinse in properly phd water. I let mine hang in the shade til dry, then move em inside. I use 27 gallon totes to wash, half full. I change my water each plant.

What is the proper ph for rinsing bowl water?

I think you need more baking soda and lemon juice for a 10gal tote.

These just finished drip drying. They’ll finish drying in my tent for 14 to 16 days.

I chopped some of the White Runtz last night. She had some unruly branches that needed to go.

Love the night shot with the fogger. Tangie buds look great. I use citric acid food grade granulated. Its a bit stronger than lemon juice.
@Big123. I like to check my last bucket for good ph, i think they stay alive a bit even after the bud wash. So i just like to check it and be sure its in range. Probably doest matter, but i do it anyway.

Some good info. Interesting bout the mold, and ph. I might go with a dr zymes bud wash as well. Ill just add an extra tote, it will be the first dip. :call_me_hand: ill be sanatizing my drying/lung room this week too. I dont have a fogger, yet. But ill spray some hypochlorous and let it dry, before i bring in anything.
