As for alcohol and hang overs, unless I drank more than usual I rarely got them.
had a high tolerance, and also I usually consumed enough to where it would carry through the next day until around noon when I’d start again. I’m sure I’ll still have a drink on occasion but I always get too out of hand. Was drinking heavily every day, and feel like a large portion of life has just been a blur. Kids are growing too fast, time is moving too quick, and gaining momentum every day. I started drinking(amongst other things) around 13 and it’s never really stopped. Just occasional breaks. Mostly smoke now. Just in moderation. A bowl or 2 a day.
Hey been a bit @Low, understand the drinking part, liquor has been taken out of my life, it has not been missed (much) still do a few beers everyday along with water, lobo gets a bigger work out now but still moderation, food looks awesome, doing ribs tomorrow for Son and family, just a swing by to wish ya all fine Easter ![]()
Hey @Bentstick
I’ve had 3 Modelos in the last idk 70-80 days. They are less than 4 abv. Have been dizzy pretty much since I stopped, but I feel like it’s starting to go away. Don’t really notice it when I’m active. Maybe will start back on keto/low carb again too, idk. We still have had alcohol in the house but- out of site out of mind, every time I think about it I just chug a water, eat something salty or spicy, or game.
Ribs sound great! Getting the kids together with their cousins for Easter. I’ve not been involved with that part of the family for a while… awkward time ahead.
Akward for a short bit I would assume, but know what ya mean, been going to work 3-4 days 4-7 hrs and need to readjust from almost no work since Sept to people again and it is not been easy, going to try and make until 63.5 but it is hard to see it, to much here at home to keep me busy and away from work drama.
?
Ive not taken a job since around September also. Been a stay at home dad for the most part. Which isn’t as physical but def mentally draining. The kids are nuts and the chores never stop. Madam did this for most of their lives and we recently switched things up. My business/partners really dropped the ball in 2025 and was the lowest yearly income I’ve seen since I started working out of high school. Cash jobs floated most of the year. Body is too wrecked to get back into the field after all this. All the local positions start with the labor end.. I’m not down for that. Hard pill to swallow as it’s all I really know. Idk what I’m doing yet, no matter how many options I explore nothing is appealing. Thought about getting into some local cultivating work with cannabis but they want verifiable experience and the income wouldn’t even cover the childcare for 2.
nothing wrong I see there, wife and I have swapped on income front, she wants me done but it doesn’t feel right to me may need a bit of brain check on that one, just my guess but since my small stroke I have lost a few things or I struggle a bit more at some things that where inprinted and she sees it more than I feel it, our new world order here on home front is changing after 28 yrs of me humping to keep things going, she sez it is her time and I need to relax more or shift it more to things on our turf, never liked change but maybe it is time except the mortality we all have and enjoy life again. All said and done life is short and full of change. ![]()
62.5 yrs old now, 63.5 for retirement.
Congrats on the win @Low and @MadamCalamity ![]()

Cheers Brother Low, grilled hot dogs for me and Paula. My Azz is whipped after trimming the AG this morning and boat riding the rest of the day ![]()
You do know how to smoke meat, maybe something to ponder, you do have a large portfolio of your expertise on this forum, Lows Smoke House has a good ring to it, maybe not viable though just a thought?
Get you a food trailer or a simple pull behind smoker grill, here we don’t even need a license for a portable pit type deal. Guys that have them set up sell out by lunch and it’s 15-20 bucks a plate for chicken and two veggies. Call it Low and Slow. ![]()

Second this…
I have the pellet grill rolling too
As for the drinking I think it’s good to take a little dry out here and there. I was hitting it pretty hard during rona shutdown. Took some time off and for last few years I will have a couple drinks after getting kids to bed on more nights than not. I’ll smash light beer when on boat otherwise the rest of my drinking is socially.
Good Morning Cannafam,
Getting the lunchtime smoke ready, Deluxe Sugar Cane. Minty, gassy, candy (maybe grape?,) dank.
I want to cross this with StrawGary.
Anywho-
Almost there Bent. N will be here before you know it.
@Crazy81
Thank you!
Don’t you just love trimming?? At least you were able to get on the water.
I just discovered that my oldest has been taking some of my fishing gear and has been venturing off to fish. Haha
I’ve played with the idea so many times- would be awesome. Or even just supplying local places with BBQ to sell. Not much of a market here for that- yet. There is one guy that does “pop ups” and sells out of his tow behind until he runs out. From what I gather his food goes fast.
@dbrn32
How are you liking the pellet grill after using it for a while?
Hope you all had a great Easter, and have an even better week!
I’d like to see you dabble in the bbq game for sure but totally get that restaurant business is hard.
Pellet grill is good! It doesn’t smoke like my vertical smoker but doesn’t require babysitting like it either. I did 4/2 on the ribs with a sweet and spicy rub and my dad said they were the best ribs he’s had. The brisket turned out good but i think adding the smoke tube was a little much. I ran it 160⁰ for 2, 180⁰ for two, then 225⁰ for remainder and wrapped after 6 hours. Hit 205 at about 14 hours total.
I also spatchcocked a chicken and dry brined for the time, it was a hit. After dry brine i hit with gibsons bbq rub and ran at 225⁰ to 130⁰ in the breast. I pulled it off and cranked tenp and tossed back on at 450⁰ until breast hit 160⁰, basting with garlic butter throughout.
You tease… You’re just as bad as @Low .

I don’t usually get as many pictures though
.
Chicken on the smoker is becoming the only way I like it. Awesome to hear you are enjoying it and getting great reviews. Yall should try whole duck on there when you get a chance.
Hope everyone is doing good. Cheers!
@Low you taste test the peppers ![]()
you taste test the peppers
I haven’t yet but will be soon. ![]()
Very well grown LB, very excited. Almost look fake!
Smoking up some 6oz burgers stuffed with cooked bacon, jalapeno, and mozzarella. Will get topped towards the end with bacon and American cheese.
I don’t mind duck but I’m not sure if the kids would eat it. I have tinkered with the idea of doing a turducken but same reason has kept me from pulling the trigger.
