Cloudy reservoir masterblend & powergrow

Between grows, I’m using my res to mix nutrients for the ole Lady’s garden. Instead of using up my Jack’s for her stuff I purchased masterblend & powergrow calcium nitrate 15.5-0-0

RO water 75f
masterblend
powergrow
PH up

My entire grow my res stayed good. With this stuff I get two or three days and the res turns DARK. When I mix I notice the cal-nit is slightly cloudy compared to mixing jacks part b. I will be swapping back to jacks part b to see if there is a difference.

The other possibility is the PH up is a new jug.

Anyone have any experience with these products (masterblend, powergrow & PH up) A bad batch?

Next question is what are the cons of using it on outside plants? Veggies and fruit trees?

@Low I know you fought this for a while, anything seem familiar? Tag anyone you may know has dealt with this crap please.

Try to dilute the hell out of the calcium nitrate and add very slowly. Little addition, mix, little addition, mix, I try to do this 5 times. It’s the only thing that helped me with my res issue.

Nice to see you

I pre-mix everything in 1/2 gal glass jars, add part a, with the stir pump running wait 10-20 min, add part b, 10-20 min PH.

Since it happened the first time I started using and air pump in addition to the stir pump after mixing. Stir pump is on a 5 on 15 off and the air pump runs continuously.

It goes really dark, looks black on the bottom.

Yeah… I’ve been more than a little overwhelmed with BS going on in our lives. I think you will understand when I say, I’ve had to take a break from weed. I’ve been fighting a serious battle since July. If things don’t change I’m gonna end up in the hospital.

I understand bro. Here for ya.

So I dealt with the clouding for 6-8 months. Bought everything new, tried temps, tried different brands… it came down to diluting part b with 5 gallons before slowly adding to reservoir. I tried it all, the only thing I haven’t tried is adding the calcium nitrate directly to the “reservoir” where “part a” is already mixed and letting it dissolve through mixing…

Which calcium nitrate were you using?

A lot of the 15.5 are all the same unless it’s one of those brands that has micros in it…

Dilution was my only answer after tossing tons of viable nutrients… it’s a PITA

Any thoughts on using it? Not for my garden… hers.

Nothing wrong with it. Just finding the right way to mix. How much are you doing at once?
I used 15.5 successfully with jacks for a couple months, and then BAM! All the issues started happening.

Thanks brother. I looked on line about using it… really couldn’t find anything.

Yeah man, I know. LOL when I was having my issues literally ran out of solutions and answers. Even reached out to nutrient suppliers. For a time I switched to floraflex nutrients while waiting on responses…

Well, as I started prepping to mix the next batch, I decided to do the simplest thing first. I didn’t use warm water when mixing the nutrients in the half gallon jars. Thats is the only difference between the batches.

Whadya know… 7 days later and it’s still perfect. Hmmmm…

So it appears jacks can handle the warmer mix temp, but the powergrow / masterblend combo cannot. It did take a bit more stirring to mix it, but not much really.
