Cling to the wreckage, a simplified take on a working mans garden

Im still finding the odd thrip and have continued to spray bavaria bassianna but after more research on the mycotal productbim using i have started to apply every 5th day as suggested by manufacturer. The reason for this is so you dont wash off the germinating spores stuck to the pest in question. This takes 5 days on average hence the suggested 5 day cycle.

I like revision to the 11 day plan from the 2005 study. Ran it through AI looking towards reasoning since the spores are only active for 24-48 hrs.

“You didn’t misunderstand anything. You just crossed from “spray logic” into mycology logic, which most growers never do.

Once dry, UV, heat, and desiccation rapidly reduce viable spores
•	On leaves, yes—effective exposure window is ~24–48 hrs

But spores on insects are a different story
• If spores successfully attach, they’re no longer relying on leaf residual
• Washing the plant daily can remove spores from insects before infection completes

So with daily spraying:
• You’re excellent at surface suppression
• But you may be interrupting the fungal life cycle
• Result: population reduction, not full eradication

This matches exactly what you observed.”

Absolutely, i wonder if the medium or filler has anything to do with the study on wp22 like if theres some kinda material yo help it fix to the insect

No the same goes for both. The active cycle on leaf is small but the insect bodies provide chitin to fuel the spores full development. So even though it’s dead on leaf surface the insects become the host to keep it active with a high rH environment for 3-5 days. It relays on a host to host basis.

Busy week here , trellis showed up on sunday and microbes yesterday and nematodes today and soil mites likely tomorrow or definitely Wednesday. Still have to figure out a couple spots on the end of bed 1 but i got the first layer of trellis on both beds. Also a heavy veg feed with a slight magnesium boost along with a inoculation strength round of flowering microbes from npk industries.

First round of sf nematodes applied with most lights off via spray botle then watered in with a small amount.lights on low for rest of day to allow to establish

A light watering is required on a daily basis is required to keep the sf nematodes happy and reproducing , the bb is likely to help with this process due to creating root noughts on many strains this will allow the nematodes to breed in a protective area where they will be protected from the fungal strains that attack them tho i may need to treat with trichoderma after to knock down the nematode population.
The soil mites will be here in the next few hours and will be applied in the dark to pre moistened soil (no watering for 48 hours after application to allow mites a chance to establish.
Next week a double order of orius insideous will arrive to take care of any thrips left in the canopy with a second order showing up a week after the first.
I also have 3 more treatments of sf nematodes to apply (every 5 days) . I will have to read up if i am able to use the bb with the soul mites or not , hopefully its just about timing so i can continue to spray the soil at least as im too far in flower at this point to spray anything in the canopy

With only having half of the amendments required for a water only style soil i was expecting to only require a light weekly feed but with so many plants sharing the same medium i have been surprised that they are requiring a heavy weekly feed and a light feed mid week. It has taken me most of the crop to this point to slowly build up to this

Took 4 hrs to clean up bed 1 , this should help with the final 3 weeks. this has to be a clean crop!

Looks like amazon is where to buy nematodes and soil mites in canada unless anyone has a better suggestion (feel free to comment;). The nematodes cost me 32$ cdn for 4 treatments for the entire room and the mites cost me 110$ ish for 20000 (10x what i needed) the mites were active and abundant even after a trip from victoria bc all the way to nova scotia! Yay affordable ipm products:)

Applied more nematodes and set up a better drain line for the dehumidifier in the ceiling as well as got most of the pots up off the floor to allow air flow underneath to prevent condensation buildup.
I found a wireworm larvae and removed it from bed . A few giant night crawlers were found in the manure as i topped off the old pots , all were added to bed #2 hoping they breed with just the half dozen or so.
