Everyone, the plants are looking great
Seattle morning dew. It will make you go crazy sometimes. Bud rot weather app says 88%RH right now. Not a cloud in the sky. Moist onshore air flow.
One got slugged. Luckily it’s not bad.
Put salt around the bases of the cups
D E will work as well.
I would like to introduce you to my lil friend.
Household cleaning ammonia has been my solution. I learned it from an old mentor and friend, whom has left us 10 years ago.
Basically, measure a shot glass of household cleaning ammonia into a 500ml spray bottle.
Then go out when it raining (when slugs are out) or an hour after sundown. That’s when they seem most active here. Then just squirt them.
They act like you hit them with napalm. They die and melt like the wicked slug of the west. Even in the rain. No sloughing off the salt and crawling away or using rain for a saving rinse. Sluggo becomes brown goo in 3 days of Seattle rain and the slugs pass on it then. Also, baby slugs rarely go for it.
Try ammonia, lemon scented hurts nothing and is often all I can find. 2.99$ on the grocery store shelf for a half gallon jug. Best part is the ammonia spray is harmless to plants. It oxidizes down to nitrate and acts like a foliar N boost.
The only warning is photosensitivity. Do not spray ammonia in bright sunlight. The leaves will not thank you.
I will be properly armed tonight. Look out slugs:eyes:
Great tip, thanks!
You maybe the one that suggested that to me last yr when I got slugged pretty bad @noddykitty1 ,and yes kosher salt keeps them at bay around the pot bottoms. @plumbdand
I just remember pouring table salt on them when I lived in California. Those suckers were everywhere. Snails too, but the slugs were the worst.
I dropped another GFOG last night. I have 2 going but 1 is struggling badly I’m probably gonna cull it.
Just here to follow along! Lots of nice looking young babies.
Good morning god growers. How is everyone doing this fine weekend? Beautiful sunny day here in Seattle. Starting off w some coffee and ILGM Hindu Kush. About to go check on the gardens…
Good morning, I’m also getting my coffee fix. Had to get up early to take some pictures of my major F*&# up to post in the hydroponics nutrients section. I may be depressed about it, but I have good coffee and it’s the weekend. Can’t be all bad. Have a great day.
I saw that, sorry about the tubs…
Thanks, I appreciate it.
Hello all…enjoying the 420 and getting the plants ready for the week. I have the two staying with me in their forever homes and am taking the third to my mountain retreat. Gonna see what growing straight in the soil out there does
Whats your soil like
Here’s pictures of the 3 GFOG plants that I have going. Posted in the official chat but wanted to share these pics too.
All 3
CX nutrients
Masterblend nutrients
Hydro with Masterblend
Rocky. Bit of clay, but about three inches down it’s dark. Lots of leaf litter and mountain made
Compost I’m excited to see how it does out there. I’ll move a few of my other plants so she doesn’t get lonely
Id add some dolomite lime and crushed oyster shells they help buffer the soil ph and also adds calcium and magnesium. I also add a bunch of other stuff but Id start with that at minimum.
I visited @W.B.elpaso yesterday got to check out his grow. Every single one of his plants had super thick main stalks. It was obvious it’s not pheno’s or genetics. Its from using a lot of silica. They all looked super healthy and happy. Might be a little difficult to super crop though. His greenhouse is the shits!! Its like going into a greenhouse at the local nursery.
