What you want is to “open up” your plant to the light and expose the nodes. You could gently bent the branches away from the main stem, that will open your plant more.
My plants are sleeping now, but tomorrow I should do a training session on them. I’ll try to show you what I mean.
Yes and no. It’s easier now, when you begin, because your plant is well established and heals faster.
And it’s also harder because it will be more work to keep her going where you want to.
Make sure to massage the stems before bending. That way you won’t break them lol although, busting branches could work in your favor. Just follow @kaptain3d ! He was teaching me in my last semester lol I broke my plants up’ lol
This semester I did not bust ONE branch on BJ, just a little scrap that almost took a vegging branch clean off
I thought I had to give them a kiss before torture
My next grow I’m going try the torturing technique. Will definitely follow along closely to Kap’s guide. I didn’t feel confident enough to do it yet and I felt I should’ve started when she was a little smaller.
I know it’s only been 3 days since my last update but here is how much she has grown. I’m so thankful for @Fiz showing off her autopots, they have taken my grows to a whole new level.
She is getting bushier, will definitely need to prune away some lower stuff and a small amount in the middle soon. I do not want a repeat of my monster last grow. While she was big and had a ton of bud sites, I felt like density of the buds wasn’t great due to how many small bud sites there were.
A little Saturday morning update, was out of town for a few days. Woke up early like it was Christmas and snuck into to tent to see my girl.
She just keeps growing and growing. It’s been a little over 8 weeks since I placed the seed in soil and 2 weeks since I turned the auto pot system on. I may give her another 2 weeks before I flip. I will definitely pay attention to her and make a decision when I get closer to that date.
Open to advice or guidance, I typically watch for signs of when to flip but I don’t want her getting out of hand.
I took pics of her and then trimmed her a little but forgot after pics but I did get a pic of my chickens feasting on trimmings
It’s been about 2 months since the seed was in the soil and almost a month since I turned on the auto pot system and she started really growing.
She is getting big big! I thinned her out more and pulled down her lower branches to let more light in. It’s not the prettiest but I’m happy with the removal I got off her and the chickens were happy too.
I have a net for scrogging but not sure if I should or when I should put it up. Any suggestions @merlin44 ?
Edit: I am hoping to flip her in 2 weeks or less. That would put me at about 6 weeks of vegative. I will definitely pay attention to her and her growth before making a final decision.
You can put the SCROG net on anytime. You might consider pulling the main stock over a bit to promote secondary growth. This will also prepare for the SCROG if you decide to use it.
I will answer any questions you have to help you do this successfully. This plant is a bit smaller than yours but the principle is the same.
Edit: Are @CaliRob and @Caligurl connected in some way? I have been wondering for a while. This plant was flipped to flower at 60 days old and produced a bit over 1 lb of dried and cured flower. When the photo was taken the plant was just about 1 month old.
