Don’t rip me apart this is best I have so far. The lights I know aren’t the right ones and again I’m buying some, found these laying around. Added a couple humidor humidifiers and stuck my hygrometer in there so I can see if it does anything. Plant is now about 2 to 4 inches from light and it’s staked on a hollow pen and tied with none other than hemp rope lol.
wouldn’t do that,
my first few 28-30 yrs ago was built out of a bunch of dumpster diving .was a packing crate, U shaped florescent bulbs, ballast from other fixtures, old tile mirrors , old calking ,silicone ect, to hold mirrors. most wireing diagram is on old style ballist, box of lite fixture holders afew bucks easy mount to . ps also buy small lock for door . and always employ it… I have been where you are ,i never laugh at another’s grow . Advice is Good !
Bad criticism serves none … 30 yrs later iam under ground , in a state that has leagle recreation laws . And i have found one of the BETTER web sites .for growing , AND i do mean ILGM ![]()

Well if you don’t mind @Hammer I would like to pick your brain. What temp do I need to keep my grow and if it’s hot how dangerous is that for the plant? I’m trying to give it light but don’t want to over heat it. And I keep mine double locked two separate doors.
fair temps 70-80 f , at 85 degreesF plants stop up take nutes and start to heat wilt… with no extra co2…can you find or salvage small puter fan .bath fan or two . use with cheap timer if no thermostats available aslo place fans high as can , heat goes up . gotta go for a short while .my 3 new Solis tech lighting systems arrived and iam awaiting fix on bean order . so need to dial in will send picts soon
Sounds great hope to see those pics soon Good growing. And either @Hammer or @Donaldj when I transplant will I be able to bury up the stalk to shorten length of plant.
Absolutely you can. This is a common way to correct stretchy seedlings. The benefit of it is that plant will also grow additional roots from the stem ![]()
Ok so obvious question how far up the plant. Can I take it to the first set of true leaves and nodes.
If you are going to do this, you need to do it now, or very soon. If the stem gets more mature and more “woody” you will risk stem/trunk rot.
As far as topping, I wouldn’t until you have at least three nodes below the top, to help the plant recover quickly from the injury.

@MacGyverStoner how far up the stalk should I bury? And i have room to grow tall just trying to protect my little lady.
Maybe to about an inch or two from the top, to the part where it is still white, and not very green.
The white in the stem and lack of chlorophyll means it will do better under the soil, white means the cells are less like a stem and more like a root, or at least it has some to do with the cellular ability and “stem cells” of sorts, that can then act and behave more like roots.

Great ty this is proof that I’m in the right forum. Last question I think, what kind of soil do I need to buy? We are talking local hardware type stuff, and does it need to be starter soil or does it matter. I’m totally new to all this decided I had enough info after reading the grow bible to try my hand.
Seedlings are seedlings until they have 3 or more nodes, and so they need seedling starter soil.
~MacG
If you are working with a soil less medium like Sunshine Mix4 or Promix HP they are hold almost no N-P-K charge if not stick to seed starting mix until they are 4-5 nodes atleast I usually rinse my media for seedling transplants to reduce any start charge.
what about applying a small amount of rooting powder with a new clean make up brush just before trans planting to speed up more rooting ,just a thought
maybe my next grow will be with product I actually order and plan better haha, but this time I figure I’ll stick to soil.
I do it everytime @hammer subculture-M or myko I tend to simply sprinkle it over roots and while holding plant over it’s new home so any spills land on medium but a brush would work awesome ![]()
Ok concerned parent, seeing some yellow spots starting on the right leaf and the tip of the left looks like it’s loosing color. I may be over concerned but should I be and if so what do I need to do?
@MacGyverStoner @Donaldj @Hammer
This is five days since it has been sprouted? you should be seeing your third node starting by now so clearly there is something not going right the stretch say’s inadequate light right off the hop but I suspect you may be watering with non ph’d water aswell? You said you used seed starter soil but she’s showing first signs of nute burn
subculture is great idea .but what i meant was rooting powder ,like root tone…PS i think Donaldj is correct about ph and nute burn . if it were me id just give it ph ed water for a waterings . and don’t over water.![]()
