Thanks @merlin44
I’m sure it is just not 100%
Welk, I wouldn’t want you to get sick smoking some bad …
I had some gdp develope a different smell while in the jar. Kind of a minty smell is what came to mind. It concerned me enough to take a good look at it and determined it was free of mold. Not sure what caused the smell change? They made a for a great batch of gummy bears.
In the past I’ve had a few jars get mold. I soaked them in 3% peroxide and distilled water. After drying they looked to be free of mold. I smoked a little and all seemed fine but the quality of taste and smell were impacted. I didn’t continue smoking it but instead made edibles.
I’m sorry, but I’m with Merlin on this one. I wouldn’t take a chance.
Do all the jars from that one plant smell like mold or just one or two?
Like others I’d definitely be suspicious of everything that is getting the moldy smell. I had that smell with some GDP that I had curing. Once I removed from jar I could see it, also keep in mind that it starts within the bud. I decided to toss everything that was suspect.
Personally if I suspected mold,
I’d cook it and eat it. Cooking above 110°C for 20 mins will destroy any and ALL mold spores.
Decarbing is usually cooked for longer than that… My 2c
Thanks @Bulldognuts
What a b#$%!^d it’s not super strong but it ain’t right.
I’ll put it under the magnifier see what shows up.
I’ve read somewhere re wetting (soaking) the bud.
Like wet cure can eliminate it mold if it is that.
It’s not a grassy smell.
Thanks anyway.
Apparently baking it ok to consume as edibles
Thanks @AfgVet for getting back to me.
On the plant it seemed there was a lot of fat health colas. Once cut dried trimmed cured it wasn’t so much.
Isn’t that a shame.
Anyway I have 2 jars one big one small and yes they both have the same smell.
We’re oh we’re did I go wrong.
She had so much potential resisted bud rot like many of my other plants hot attacked with.
I bud washed them dried them steadily once I was happy I burped them all the time.
Some are saying cook them make edibles.
Anyway thanks for calling by. Cheers
You sure make some mean gummie bears too @shindig153
Thanks for your feedback and stopping by.
Cheers
When in doubt throw it out. Especially if it smells off.
I’ve not dealt with mold brother but I agree with our friends.
I’ve messed with horses a long time and I have seen what can happen to a horses respiratory system if he gets into some moldy feed. It can ruin an animal.
Just my 2C’s.
Here is one jar of my train wreck I took today.
Broke a few buds open in the sunlight to see if I could see any mould escape.
It’s a tough call as it could just be a change in the turps aroma. So wish I was 10 years down the experience trail of growing and been here done that…
Now situation number 2.
Last year I didn’t drop my auto seeds til September and I was hoping harvest would be done by Xmas.
It took 121 days.
So I checked out the days to Xmas this year now.
We got 146 days left.
Now be a good time to drop them get them started day temp about 17 deg marginal.
My problem is going away soon for 10 days.
If I drop them now they will be 2 weeks old. How do you think these little 2 week old auto’s will travel in our van for 2 weeks?
Anyone done this before.
Only going to be 3 seedlings.
If any one has experience with this situation please get in touch cheers
Thanks @Leholf
What’s the environment like?
Light, air, RH?..
Well not so great. Just a van. Windows for air and light heater if it gets cold.
Can snuggle them into a propagation dome.
A days travel down and back
10 days total
More stable the environment,
More stable the seedlings so…
The better you can keep the environment, the more likely they are to survive…
Another option is drop them when away have them soaking still give me 120 odd days to harvest.
As great as it is going away at times it really messes with your grow cycles
Yep I know @Enlightened420
Exactly my friend,
Lost about 4 seedlings when I took Mrs Enlightened away for our
20th Anniversary…
It was well worth it
