Thats good to know. I was concerned about the smell during flower, but I could probably double up on the carbon filter. My exhaust fan is too strong for my tent size anyway.
Gotcha. My basement stays cool enough that even in the summer months I had a hard time getting my canopy temps as high as I would like. Not a big deal but you can usually see a noticeable difference in plant vigor after a few degrees. What really killed it for me was my heating and cooling bill increase. Taking air from inside of house and exhausting outside will put your home under negative pressure and the natural flow of air will move towards your fan. It was enough to notice a slight vacuum on the door when opening it.
If you think you will need to exhaust outside due to scent I would at least figure something out where it’s able to be diverted easily. Not sure how extravagant you want to get but I used 4" rigid duct and a dryer vent. I was able to go back later and install a wye with diverters. Not exactly as pictured below but similar.
I was exhausted in the attic. It worked but the lung room was always on the edge, which made keeping the tent right was a pain.
I put a duct and filter into the lung room and it’s been a little easier keeping the room and tent in the sweet spot. Several variables though, so not sure which one had the most affect.
My challenge is the inverse of yours, I fight to stay cool.
I studied my expected lung room again. There is a drop ceiling in there which I prefer not to cut up. I am now planning to try and exhaust into my lung room area. There is a cold air return in the lung room, so my hvac will recirculate some of it.
