Since you’re gonna be running a Scrog, I’d definitely cut and clone the bottom branches to force energy to the top of the plants
They look happy and healthy !
@MattyBear Cloned the GL-LSD-and Maui x LSD. I left the top 3 leafs on each clone. The bending is not weakness it was shape of branch. Tent is 88° is that ok for the clone or should I put them under the Aerogarden light? House is at 78°
Clones will be fine under the Aerogarden light. I would cut all fan leaf blades in half and that will trigger the plant to try to grow roots and not foliage ![]()

yep, I always do this. it signals the plant to stop putting energy into those leaves and thus it focuses all of it’s energy on root development instead. very good tip.
Just clipped the leafs. I have it in the middle of the tent right now. I will work on setting up the Aerogrow light to fit over the clone cover.
okay, demmit, i’m drunk, but what the hell… Matty you amaze me in the breadth of your knowledge. i humble bow on my knees to an extraordinary intellect!.. the depth of your knowledge slays me. fact is, there are a huge bunch of very knowledgeable folks on here, but your range is just f’n great!
Watered today with 6.5 pH filtered water using EJ crystals for pH. 1/4t 5 gals. Last water was with Nutes on 3-31. I cant believe it was last watered 7 days ago. It is by far the longest I have gone without watering. Cant argue with their looks though.
Later today I am going to take another crop of clones just in case so I am sure to have at least 1 of each plant for next flower.
I took another clone a off the Maui x LSD plants yesterday and set up under the Aerogarden LED. I followed @MattyBear 's advice and clipped all the leafs and they look great today. When the 2 new QB 260’s arrive this week I will get them in and take another clone from each BGL and the LSD.
Should the rockwool be sitting in a bit of water? Or just use moisture from cover?
A couple of the leafs on the 2 BGL are getting v shaped curling. They are 32" below the 600w HPS. QB 260’s are coming in a couple days. Anything to be concerned about? They were topped last week
@dbrn32 @Kcdaniels @MattyBear @BlazeMaze @Reticence @monkman @Covertgrower
I have a question on trimming. I have topped these already and have use LST to hold down the larger branches. On the picture I put a piece of tape on a leaf for you to see. This leaf is giant and shading a lot of the side branches trying to grow. The leaf shown is on the main stalk and at the base of a branch that is 8" or so long and the branch has branches and more leafs.Once a branch has many of its own leaf growing can the main leaf I marked at the stem be removed?
yes sir you can remove that leaf and I myself would yoink that sucker right off that plant if it was me/my grow. wont harm a thing. you could also try tucking that leaf behind a branch or something just to get it out of the way without having to remove it if you’d like.
I typically tuck as much as I can until in flower, if it starts to die off, then I remove it. @RAP
You can if you want. I don’t see a single leaf making a big difference one way or the other.
Just watered. It has been 5 days since last water. See I am getting it
. I used filtered water and used Big bloom and Grow big. I did half strength and then realized I did have strength for 1 gal and
adj pH to 6.5 and watered The 3 plants. Checking ppm it was 350 going in and 370 coming out. Then it hit me. I did 1/2 strength for 1 gal but had 3 gals water. What a dumb-ass!.
I am going to leave it and mix properly next time. @BlazeMaze I am going to cut the leafs and start the scrogging. So in general when a branch has grown and it has its own leafs growing the main leaf can be removed, correct? I have tucked them a couple times but they love to pop back up and shade the rest so they are going ![]()
this is the way I see it too, you could tuck it or pluck it but one thing is for sure, one leaf by itself isn’t going to do any real harm or any real good either. but I personally would rather the branch/small leaves be getting more light so I’d tuck if possible or pluck if not.
it can be removed yes, in my eyes I would rather that branch and the smaller leaves on it be getting the light but that is just my personal preference and some would agree with me but some would also disagree it depends who you ask. but honestly either way you choose to go is the right way, it won’t make any real difference regardless. once again though in my eyes It’s worth removing it to get more light on that branch.
Agree with the folks. Cutting not a problem. I don’t worry so much until my plants get into the SCROG then I start thinking about trimming leaves or branches that I don’t think will get light when I’m getting ready for flower.
I try not to trim all at once but do a fair amount under the screen and again later after I see how the plants are doing.
same here. I do a very small amount until 3rd week of flower. after the bloom stretch is over I know pretty much for sure what will be worth keeping or clipping. some strains will really surprise you and many low branches will shoot straight up to that net.
Yes I saw that with the Maui and Northern Lights and LSD on the first grow. I have not seen the BGL flower yet so can only imagine.
