The whole plant was… disappointing.

I’ll be lucky to get 2.5oz from it. Looks kinda ugly, no symmetry. Has a couple buds that looked malformed.

But I did an experiment on this grow. I grow in 10 gallon bags. I did two plants in fresh, brand new FFHF right out of the bag, amended with a handful of worm castings and added myco.

The other two were in soil I had from previous grows, also FFHF. I heavily amended it with worm castings, and myco.

Unfortunately, it showed. The two plants in the new soil look great! Twice the size of the other two.

This will be my last time growing in soil. I’m buying an Autopot system and switching to coco.

Now you’re talking! You’ll love the growth rate of coco, the Autopots are a must, I’ve been hand watering two hours a day, Autopots got here and installing this weekend!

What size Autopot system?

I got the 12 pot Geo XL , you can use 3 , 5, or 6.6 gallon bags according to autopot, but I have it on very good authority that most any bag the right diameter will work fine with them. I ordered 3 gallon, but have a ton of 2,3,and 5 gallon bags. I ordered without a res, as I have access to 15, 30, and 55 gallon plastic food grade barrels for free.

So you’re going to make your own reservoir? I might be interested in that.

Does Autopot sell the fittings to fit the hose? I wouldn’t mind doing that if I could save a few bucks.

They sell the click lock fitting for the filter as well as other fittings and hose used in their systems. I have a couple barrels I’m gonna use with a fitting off Amazon to connect the 1/2 in hose to. Fitting goes thru hole and tightens up , I’ll silicone the fitting so it seals good.

They have cutoff valves too, like 12 for 8 bucks or so, and they’re rated for gasoline.

Thank you. Now I’m interested.

Another question if you don’t mind.
Did you save money by doing it yourself?
Or did you simply wanted a customized reservoir to suit your situation?

Their res aren’t bad price, I have lots of barrels and prefer them to the flexible res they sell. I do a lot of my own engineering on things, just par for me. It does save $50 bucks or so over their price.

Thank you.

I’ve got a few weeks to work on it.
So essentially if I can one up with a suitable barrel, all I need to do is, drill a proper size hole, and install the brass fitting and seal it with silicone.

Am I on the right track?

Dead on, it’ll be easy , nothing to it. Let me know if I can help with setup or anything else.

Will do, thank you.
