Back 2 the basic from start to finish!

This ones been doing okay its still alive and its kn the gravity system as well just dont want it to start failing because i switched how its being fed.

Typical salt based soils generally need a dry back to maintain oxygen in the root zone. A larger plant in late veg or flower might balance things out for now since it is drinking more, but that does not mean it will stay that way.

The main issues with running salt based soil in a bottom feed system are salt buildup, overwatering, lockout, and poor oxygen levels. Because bottom feeding does not naturally flush, salts accumulate in the root zone and eventually cause lockout or burn. These soils also hold water for a long time, so when the bottom is constantly wet the roots do not get enough oxygen and can start to rot. Organics or inert media avoid this problem because microbes buffer nutrients.. soilless or inert media like coco, perlite, pro mix, or rockwool maintain more aeration around the roots even when saturated and don’t hold salts the same way as salt-based soils. With salt based soil you end up with both salt accumulation and oxygen issues, which is why it usually fails in a gravity fed setup.

If you try bottom feeding with salt based soil it should be managed like top feeding with proper dry backs and a flush every week or two to keep buildup under control.

Basically meaning, you have to work harder to get this to play out appropriately with virtually no gain over traditional top feeding to appropriate run off.

So best coirse of action would be get rid of the gravity system and just go top feed i habe a top feed auto system so that will probably be the way to go from what it seems

Agreed Soils top feed, bottom feed coco, or full hydro, IMO…

Ok sweet that’s the route im taken i know you guys know what your talking about

This is the first and only time I’ll be going soil everything else will be hydro and pro mix

Not full auto for top feed because the soil will need an appropriate dry back. Hard to time this with out checking soil manually. :+1:

I made myself a little rdwc setup that i was hoping to just make larger just wanted to get this soil grow to its finishing paces so whatever yall think is best is what im doing man.

U have that vivosun auto feed for the top of the plants can i use that and just set the timer maybe a few hours a part just dropping a snall amount of water or just set it to feed and check it daily

You can try, sounds like the potential for unnecessary problems- no run off to keep salts moving leading to salt accumulation, over wet. Normal soil likes to be drenched- then after a few days- give or take, it dries and likes to be drenched again.

Organic systems- moist

Salt soil- wet/dry cycles

Soilless- moist to wet

Hydro and hydro geared soilless- high frequency or continuous

Got it last thing i want is unnecessary problems so ill remove them now this soul was the same soil that we had tons of issues with in the beginning thinn its possible to cut the pots off of them shake it out a bit and plamt in new soil?

No point of going through that stress of changing the soil. Just be patient and transition to a wet dry cycled system. Monitor run off going forward. Track trending pH and ppms throughout the grow.

Sounds good dude thank you as always i appreciate the help.

Thanks for helping him @low, I’ve been tied up lately, work has increased, that time of year. I’m not one to ask about bottom watering unless you want to hear some profanity! You know the issues I had with the problem children, all that because they were sitting in water on bottom and dry half way up, never again! Lmao, never again. It they ain’t worth watering, I say they ain’t wirth growing!:smiling_face_with_sunglasses::oncoming_fist::rofl:

It’s all good. I’ve just been bumming it around the house mostly. Haven’t found much reason to post lately unless tagged. :call_me_hand:t3:
