Autos-only Using Jacks 321 & 4/2

I used to love working on cars as a kid. That was my dream, i wanted to restore old Corvettes. I started off by ripping the carburetor out of my old mans 1963 Buick Rivera and taking it all apart and cleaning all the gunk out of it and rebuilt it and put it back in and it started right back up like it used too. Thats when i knew i found my lifes calling but then i bought a Fender Stratocaster and got turned onto some good acid and heard Jimi Hendrix playing the National Anthem and my dreams took a wild turn in life. I still don’t know what happened to that part of me that wanted to be a car mechanic. True story.

All my life I thought P was the go to for bud formation…!? For real? @Autos-only

Yes sir, P is very important in overall health but boosting the numbers past what the plant needs can lead to stretchy plants.

Keeping day and night temps will also help keep tighter plants.

Not just phosphorus but potassium and calcium are very very important in flower.

I didn’t know this either until jacks mentioned it and I started reading more about it.

If you’ve never tried this! You need to! Man is it good! Used it as a binder for the ribs!

So dropping the temp at the first few hours of lights on will reduce stretch?.. good info.

@Autos-only Have you ever kept your Jacks nutrients mixed in water ready to go for a couple of days? Does it keep?

All the time, I mix in batches. I find the ph night drift down some and need a little more ph up.

So if leaving it overnight should have it a little higher ? Or does it drop daily the longer it sits?

Longer it sets in my experience, I would still check everytime between waterings

Thanks, its a time saver for me. I have to share the bathroom with another person and i have to hear about it evertime too.  :joy:
I use my tap water here that seems to fluctuate over the months on pH. Sometimes its 8.1 orhers its 7.8 but its always high. TDS rests between 180 to 150.
They must clean filters or something once a year at the water treatment facility here. Thats all i can figure. Unless theres a leak somewhere and when it rains it gets overflow or something. But I’ve mixed up Jacks before and let it set overnight and the pH raised 0.1 on me. It could be the Silica bumping it back up also. It really raises my pH sky high to 9.2. I pH down to 6.8 before adding Jacks and it will try to fight me… LOL i have to keep checking it or it creeps up .1

Iv heard a few people say they ph before adding jacks, iv never done that? What’s the reasoning behind that? I just ph at the end.

I have started phing before adding jacks, but its mainly laziness. I ph my res water down while waiting for the jacks to dissolve. I still final check the ph after the nutes get mixed in.

Im curious about this also…I have seen this a few times now too and im a bit confused

I thought we were suppose to ph after mixing? I generally dont have to ph up till flower anyway… After mixing jacks the ph is 6.3-6.5. My tap is normally 7.0-7.2

Hmmmm, development is underway. Baseball bats or small buds???

Softball-sized.

I’ve always ph’d at the end as jacks alone tends to drop my ph and usually don’t even need to adjust ph, just my .02 :metal:stay lit my friends

Sorry so late. Yes, i pH after adding Silica. The reason is because the Silica drives the pH up to 9.2 in my tap water and for the Silica to start its chemical process it needs to be at a pH of 6.8-6.2. 7.0 is neutral its still ok. But if i didn’t pH after adding Silica it is harder to drop the pH after adding the rest of the nutrients. I tried it both ways and its better to pH after adding Silica. If i didn’t i would be fighting the pH down at the end.
I actually still have to pH after i add Jacks and it only takes a few drops. I find it better this way.

Ahhh! Okay! So you do it because that’s what works best for you. Crazy how everyone has a different experience.

When i do silica and add my jacks it comes out almost perfect around 5.8.

I do add a little ph up to help “hold” it make it a little more stable.

This is why it’s hard to give advise on someone else grow without the real world experience, everyone has a different situation. Right on brother, thanks for getting back to us.

That, and i also was told to drop the pH down to 7.0 or below so the Silica can start it’s chemical process. I guess bonding with the water molecules or something?
