hi guys second grow here dwc Bubble bucket in a 3x3 tent sf2000 attempting to scrog growing ilgm blue dream auto usin GH 3 part w cal mag hydro guard try to stay 5.8-6.1 and I’m 600 ppm so the basic break down I’m trying to figure out a ppm progression to really help my plant thrive and end up with a little weight if anyone could give me some sage advice I’d greatly appreciate it
Looking good Grow Bro, I would recommend maintaining 1000 PPMs/2.0 EC with a PH of 5.8-6.2 in Hydro from start to finish. I would also recommend a routine check of the res PH and temps and adjust the PH if needed. Pythium (root rot) can occur with res temps above 70 degrees. Short of a chiller to keep temps in check some rotate frozen water bottles in their reservoirs
Well, here’s GH’s own weekly mixing schedule for aggressive strength (there’s also a light and med sch. Feed sch’s are on their website). My super skunk autos are running close to this, but I’m a little light on the gro and hotter on the bloom. I’m pretty much at pre-flower stage now and running ~1.7ec. The couple other auto’s I’ve done have run lighter mixes, but every one’s different. That’s the plan behind the trio, to custom mix to meet different plants needs. The schedule is laid out like this because they expect you to completely dump and refill every week. They’re not wrong, but I try and stretch that as much as possible; more at some times, less at others. Nutes ain’t free after all.
And the plant looks good! I’d keep an eye under that reflectix bucket cover though. It’s prone to trapping moisture under it, which can promote root growth closer to the surface, but can also cause some stem rot, especially if you have a planting cube (rockwool, rooter) holding all the moisture in. YMMV.
Is that a Hygger air pump? How do you like it? I loved how quiet it was, but they kept blowing diaphrams. I returned 3 of them before I quit using the brand.
PS: Don’t put frozen bottles in the DWC bubble bucket with your roots though.
Thanks for the info peeps and the pump has been good so far hoses to get kicked off occasionally due to air pressure and me fooling with my lid but other than that no issues currently thanks for the info peeps I greatly appreciate the assistance was looking into geopots if Pythian gets bad but thankfully it hasn’t hit me yet I guess that’s largely due to the hydro guard I’m using and yeah I do put ice packs in the res to keep temps lower nice 2 lb yeti ice packs
what would be the negative with this? Positive is cooler res temps
I agree with walking ppm up to about 1000. You could always run into plants that want a little more or less, but this is a good baseline for mature plants in hydroponic system.
Oh I’m all for frozen bottles and cooler temps. I’ve used bottles in my res before my DIY chiller project, but to be honest, I’ve never been brave enough to put anything frozen in direct contact with roots. Temperature shock and freeze burn on roots can’t be the greatest for the plant.
Maybe it outweighs the risk of heat damage, could be a case by case basis thing. I guess I can see when the roots are smaller, but when the roots fill the whole bucket?
I’ve seen others say the same thing on here, just makes sense I guess, but I’ve never seen where putting them in with the roots was good.
Are you saying you just stuff frozen water bottles right down into the root ball and it’s all good? That would be pretty useful if it didn’t harm the plant.
Gotcha and understood…different strokes for different folks. I run an Aeroponic set up but only do so in the winter months. My res sets on a cold garage floor so keeping res temps at 65-70 with a lung room around 74 seems to work. I’ve added frozen bottles a few times when the temps started rising with good success. I give Southern Ag a lot of credit for keeping my reservoir on point
That makes sense. A little different from just a bucket of water.
Yeh, my last grows were all in the winter too. Hot res’s are a new beast to tame for me.
Thought about pulling the basement carpet back, like your garage floor then, but I really wanted to tinker with a DIY chiller first, which seems to be working great btw
That’s great to hear Grow Bro, 1/2 of my equipment set ups are DIY and on starting my 3rd grow spot and my final one. I built a simple aeroponic system using 1/2” PVC, irrigation sprayer tips and a 500 GPH submersible pump. Ramping up the new spot to run 4 aero set ups feeding from 2 pumps in a 27 gallon tote. The sprayer manifold/root chambers will be 7 gallon totes. This was a low pressure prototype that worked really well on my first attempt
That’s pretty cool! Your journal link is all in dirt though isn’t it? Do you have a journal for the aero system?
Now see, I’d ice that res all day long, but I wouldn’t put bottles in the tote with the roots like it would be with a DWC.
But I suppose we should let @BloomingGhost have his PPM thread back
You can always post on my journal anytime, I’d like to see that aero spray in action. Now i’m intrigued
I’ll tag you on my journal, it’s old and goes from soil to coco and this DIY aero. I mainly run coco and auto pots tag me as well Grow Bro
No worries I asked for sage advice and I got it that and it gives me food for thought hopefully this run turns out nice and I can make a proper start to finish journal so I can do a copy paste set up and really dig into my next grow my first ended up horrid I destroyed a pretty plant but I got some meh smoke outta it I’m hoping this next run goes right so I’m a little nervous I have like 10 more seeds but I’m don’t want to waste a single one of these beauties my hope is to win that ilgm picture contest and get some photos to practice on
@OGIncognito @Bubbala id love if you’d tag me into some stuff too so I can read along with some experience I may pick your brain about things as I scoot along at the end of the day I’m a novice so there is literally nowhere to go but up
Well I’m no pro, and I’m pretty new on this forum myself, but I do have a current grow I started a month or so ago that I’m trying to journal if you wanted to follow along. There’s lots of journals to check out in the “Show Your Grow” category as well. I’ve never tried logging a journal, so not sure how it’ll go, but just clicking my name/avatar that shows up in each text heading will pop up a box with a “Featured Topic” link in it you can click on if you wanted to check it out.
Just an update after increasing my ppm one last question do I trellis my plant from start to finish or do I remove it once my lady has been shaped and is flowering
Nice healthy looking plant!
I would have added the net before flowering set in, personally I would LST and train the the plant to shape the canopy for equal light across the plant and for better air circulation. Super healthy looking lady Grow Bro, adding the net will help support any unruly tall growing colas though
@OGIncognito @Bubbala
Just hashing out through flower now following your recommended ppm progression one question should I defoliate any leaves any info would be appreciated thanks
