@SilvaBack203 , sorry but butting in here because you sound like you know what you’re talking about lol.
My plan is to wall off a basement corner approx 11 x 12.
I’ll have designated power ran to it.
The question is what amount of power/breakers will in need to run lights for a couple 4x4 grow areas? Lights, fans & everything. I want plenty for further possible additions.
Any ideas from your knowledge bank? All help much appreciated.
Romex was 120.00 for 100 ft when I bought a roll 2 weeks ago. I was paying just under 60 before Nov. 2020.
A 20amp circuit just for that room should cover it. These lights dont take alot is when you add ac and dehumidifier that things get tricky. Alot of houses share circuit betweens rooms thats why you have trips. Now if you habe 1 designed line just for that room, now you can control the load goin in
Its higher now 50ft is $75. I ended up stripping some mc and using the thhn cheaper route same result
@SilvaBack203 yes it’ll be led lights. And intake air will come from the hvac controlled basement, exhausted out a window and/or back into the basement.
I had designated power ran to my garage for a hi fi system.
So you’re saying just adding a 20 amp breaker for grow room would be sufficient instead of having to run designated line to the room?
Well of that 20 amp breaker you can set up 4 to 6 outlets. If you have space in the walls i would put 2 outlets in each wall. Make sure that the breaker is a gfci 1 so that way you dont have to add gfci outlets they are like $35 each.
Of each outlet u can room your set up for each grow area or just add 1 outlet for each wall. U r going 2 be running extension cords inside the tents so that many outlets may not be needed.
If room have existing electrical u can use that for your lights and the new circuit for fans n w.e else balancing the load
Well that’s good news. There is already lines ran overhead for existing non/grow lights.
Two walls are concrete, basement corner. Two future walls will be stud/drywall & the outlets could easily be added there. Thanks a ton for the info. That sounds way better than having to run designated power from my main box upstairs.
No problem and good luck anything just tag me and i will try to help… durox instead of sheetrock would be a good option 2 stay away from mold and stuff if your grow room constantly gonna be working. The concrete sweats alot
Or moisture resistant sheetrock they will help alot
You mean the green colored drywall like used in bathrooms?
Correct that’s the moisture 1 the durox is used under tile both work same idk which 1 cheaper though
Great. Thanks again for the info.
Sorry OP for tying up your thread. Possibly some of my questions will help on your build too. Good luck & keep us informed to watch!
You might want to get some epoxy floor paint or porch and deck oil paint for that plywood floor to protect it.
Thanks! I will likely have to wait on fixing the flooring because the temperatures are high right now and relative humidity is too high as well (checked at 11:30 this morning and its 79% RH and 75 degrees F). Summers in Virginia…
Did end up painting the room white (Behr Bakery Box which has a LRV of 89) but will likely put some mylar under the plants once I get them going. Fixing the humidity of the room is likely going to be the biggest issue right now. The room hasn’t gotten hotter than 86 degrees F. May start seedlings indoors in an AC room, then move outside once they get going. Move indoors to the grow space once temperatures cool down a bit or if we get another tropical storm.
Fixing the relative humidity is the top priority right now. I have looked at the AC infinity inline fans (8 inch) that have the temperature and humidity control ($199) but not sure if I need something bigger. I still plan on using only 1 light right now (debating between that SF 2000 and Viparspectra XS2000). Don’t think I need a filter since it would vent into my backyard.
i dont use a filter either as mine vents out my dryer vent. as for mylar on the floor i just went and used my old beach mats that have reflective stuff on the back and put them under my plants. more rugged than plain mylar. just a suggestion.
You can probably get epoxy floor paint in white if you get the good stuff its wear resistant and waterproof you will need that on a plywood floor
Hello neighbor lived 20 years in fxbrg. Still just a mile away from spotsy line Caroline side. A lot of va growers represent coming out of woodwork or just starting either way happy growing ![]()
Very nice room. You will fill it up.
I did the play floor mats. Yes is the floor isn’t covered it will leak rh. I had the same problem.
Just a heads up. If go to it’s moms basement now she did the same thing with the pads linked together on the floor and it caused gnats to live under the padded Matt’s. She got rid of them @J.Gro that is her handle on here
