Can I use aquarium dechlorinator on tap water and use it on my girls or will it damage them? ---

Most just set their water out for 24 hours to gas off the chlorine. ---

I use it. It’s not harmful to the plants. There’s a couple of others here that use it on occasion too. ---

I’ve read that works well for the chlorine but not for chloromines which most tap water has. ---

I use a PUR water filter with zero issues. I have been doing this for 3 years. ---

I just don’t like the fact you waste so much water with a RO System. Where I live they can charge $1000 per gallon of water if they want to which sucks. I called the Texas Water Board and they informed about this. ---

The wasted water was also a factor on that. I’ve been looking at some collapsible 53 gallon rain barrels but was worried about evaporation not being effective for removing the chloromine. But if I filter works I could attach that right to my water supply and run a hose or even an emitter system. ---

Thank you @JaneQP for the tag, @JRP6891 I use ascorbic acid powder (vitamin C) I believe it’s a half teaspoon neutralizes the chlorine or chloramine in a bathtub full of water so super cheap it costs like 20 bucks for 2 pounds. It does lower the ph a little bit to but my ph is a touch high anyway ---

Cool news/info on the chloramines…My muni water doesn’t use much or any Chlorine but uses Chloramines…First grow I used rain water til I ran out then filtered refrigerator water (what a pain in the ass) …On my second experimental… (and still growing) batch I used water straight from the tap ,Although I did let it sit out in the sun for 24 to 48 hours before watering…Not a bit difference? No adverse effects or anything/ Hmm I wonder? Is this chloramine thing all hype? They are growing no different then the first coddled batch? @MeEasy …Like the ascorbic acid idea…Im gonna try that!!! ---

I installed an AO filter that’s packaging says it removes chlorine and chloromine. Shark bite tee an elbow then a 1/2 to 3/8 reducer and a ball valve… ran me like 46$ ---

@AL_GREEN I often wonder how much the chlorine and chloramine actually harm the micro life in the soil. I’ve read some articles that tell the story one way and articles that tell it the other so like most things it depends on who is paying for the studies. I think what is going on is like with the fertilizer studies if the green side pays for it they find the organisms that are affected by them and do their study on those making it look bad where the fertilizer Co studies finds the organisms that aren’t affected by their products and do their study on them making them look good, so neither one is accurate. Same thing with the micro life itself these $150 a quart products they are selling is one bacteria really that much better than the others that it’s worth that kind of money or can you take $10 worth of rice and milk and collect bacteria from the air and grow enough to last years … or do you really need to buy it at all? I’ve read that there’s literally billions of living micro life in just one teaspoon of most decent soil and adding $100 of micro is just a waist of money, you just need to cook the soil you have to allow the bacteria to establish and get the same results 🤔 if you want we can even look at politics if you watch one news channel you see a different world than if you watch another news channel Edit = sorry for the book of my morning rants 😆 🤣 😂 I just hate being lead around like a dog on a rope and told what and how to think by being lied to by these companies and people that just want our money ---

Have you looked online for your areas water reports? As far as I know all municipalities have to post a yearly report. ---

@MeEasy Yup! I agree with you here! every other he who and what…wants you to believe on what they say as gospel… Even in my own category of belief I sometimes go kinda…Ehhh? I dunno about that! Lets just face it! The world revolves around economics and marketing ( unfortunately) Its up to us as consumers to separate the wheat from the chaff…To weed out the ultra B.S. and find our own way… “Back in the day”…MF`ers just grew weed and smoked it and boy it was just fine.. Just a seed and some dirt..a little fert and some old fashioned nurture/loving and the weed was fine. I realize that with age comes technology...and some of it is good! Great advances even! Bravo!!... But lets talk old school weed ...Acapulco Gold,Colombian Gold,Panama Red, Thai stick (the REAL Thai stick,with string and shit lol) Buddha Thai, Chocolate Thai,Thai Opium...Lebanese Hash......Then came the "pine" flavours....Red Haired Sinsemillia..etc.....I remember those days of old..and the weed was da`shit back then…BUT Its gotten a lot more sophisticated and complicated AND expensive… We used to buy an 1/8 for $ 25/ $30. bucks Then it went from 45 to 60 later on… Things got so complicated…I even remember "The drought of `88........ The U.S. feds were using the dreaded "Paraquat" to kill the weed in Mexico but the end results were that the grower's there didn't give a flying F*#k..and distributed the weed anyway Resulting in many poor soles getting lung diseases..Anyway to sum it up..I NEVER thought I would see the day when any MF`er could walk into a store and buy weed like buying a Snickers bar @ the local store… 🤣 and I never thought I would be allowed to b=grow my own weed unabated either!! BUT I AM…WE ARE!! A pot heads dream huh? (If you’re in a legal state!) For those of you whom still have to hide…Hang in there! Its coming soon!!! ---

A cheap Brita filter will remove those and most of the other stuff in public water. There are RO systems are reasonable under $100. Okay I`d hope soon to tie this post and subject into my soon to be published “My Experiment 2021” In which I attempted a few things different and controversial to growing I grew Autos / Outdoors…in late late fall…to winter December almost January… My ILGM \*Skittlz… …I used Muni-Tap water 1st season"used" (if you will) soil etc…The results are astonishing… So as to this thread…I cannot see me in the near future getting any kind of reverse osmosis or etc filters?..As I hear my Muni-Water Co,doesn’t use Chlorine anymore but they do use Chloromine? But I see NO ill effects from using this water…Now I do let it sit in the sun for approx. 24 to 48+ hours
