Bought bruce banner autos plants all grew well cut and dried in tent airflow below the hanging bud in drying process maintained 45%-55% humidity entire grow and drying process 7 days to snap on small stems.
Trimmed and put in jars for curing noticed some of buds 2 jars have a really funky smell
Like sour , spoiled cheese with light fruit smell too.
Is normal ? Think i got mix seed of a cheese strain ?
Im newbie grower but ive sniffed a bag or 2 in my day never smelled anything like this.
If it got that sour smell within a day or 2 after being jarred that more than likely means it was jarred too soon. Squeeze a bud and if it seems squishy instead of dry on the outside, take em out and let em dry mire for a few hours
Yeah i did they are dry was 39% humidity 1st day in jar
Up to 58% humidity as of yesterday.
Burping jars twice a day for minimum of 15 mins
I have some ILGM banner going. The description says you can expect some funk. One of the reasons Iām excited about growing it .
Hope your not smelling a mold smell thoughā¦
@Eagles009
Im 100% sure not mold my humidity levels in grow room never got above 50% range , have 6" carbon filter venting tent up high , with 6" oscillating fan pulling fresh air in on floor . My other plants have a very sweet smell , i cut 1 early and the other 3 at same time so during the trimming/ jarring process entire room was smelly so didnāt really notice until i opened jars to burp
Enjoy the smoke then . Iād say prob more likely you got a funky pheno than something different but who knows. It look dank?
I know this thread is very old, but Iām having the same smell issue. So I grew over the summer with Bruce Banner #3 clones. My drying room was kept at near perfect temps/humidity at all times 65 F and 61% humidity. This strain was grown outside and took roughly 14 days to dry. Afterwards, I cured this strain for a little over 2 months. Towards the later weeks of flower I started noticing this cheesy/rotting smell. I had a branch that had bud rot early on, but was separated and trashed. I thought maybe the smell would go away, but hasnāt. So the cured buds smell like this, but now you can smell a sweet citrous terpene lingering in the background. I tested some of it and could kind of taste it, but the lemony terp was much more prevalent compared to smelling it. The smoke is very thick and smooth. No irritation to the throat and a nice head high while still feeling some body high too. Every thing about my harvest is checking all the boxes for a āsuccessfulā harvest. Besides the smell. Iāve never grown this strain before so I didnāt know what traits to expect. Then I found this thread. The person who started it looks to have had the exact same issue Iām having. If anyone has experienced this or knows if this is okay health wise, I would greatly appreciate your input. Thank you.
