The gnats are under control on my inside grow. I do have diatomaceous earth, but I have not needed it. I’ve been able to keep them under control with Captain Jack’s deadbug and sticky traps.
One thing you can try is water bottles. Place a water bottle in under the cover, the thermal mass will keep it near freezing until all the water freezes.
one thing to keep in mind. What ever you use for cover, it can not touch the plant. Anywhere it touches will freeze…![]()

Posting random pictures of my outdoor stuff from work. Better internet connection
Plant in the picture is 7 ft tall, I have three more just like her and they are not going to be easy to cover.
What kind of budget ya working with? Rebar pounded in the ground, 1" pvc electrical conduit. Bend conduit over and place on rebar, cover with what ever you want.
Time has definitely run out for that option. Best I’m going to be able to do is Pound some sticks in the ground and run some tarps over it, and it will have to do that after dark tonight. When I get home from work I’m already going to be spending most of the time taking care of the legitimate Garden
The other problem I have is that these cannot be seen, and right now if I put a cover over them in the daylight they will be very visible
Well, I tried…
I just got back from uncovering the outdoor girls and it was a hard freeze last night. They are crispy frozen. I knew this going in. Not the first stuff lost to early freeze. Will be the last. I will from this day forward never plant a photo seed outdoors and may never put another auto indoors. My outdoor auto plants from spring have been harvested, dried and cured since July. Staying small and finishing early, never having the chance of being seen. Autos outside from now on.
Besides, I did get my clones from them and I still have my indoor plants. Not a total loss.
Sorry to hear that brother! You gave it a go and that’s what counts and at least you have figured out what will and won’t work for you in your area!
Time for an update on my growing situation. I did the flush on my Northern Lights number one plant that is into 7 weeks of flowering using florakleen. Again I am getting some pretty heavy foxtailing. This time I’m just going to let it go because I am figuring it must be genetics.
My other three indoor plants started yellowing on the leaves and showing signs of deficiency so I have started to feed with the Fox Farms Trio and I have been given calmag with every watering. My little strawberry clone is getting a nice heavy Cola and it is starting to bend over the plant so I’m going to have to prop that up, nice problem to have.
First picture is my Gold Leaf clone that is almost due for a watering , it is starting to wilt a touch.
Second picture is my Northern Lights that I flushed and is foxtailing.
Third picture is Northern Lights Auto number 2 and I started to feed her because she is getting some yellowing leaves also.
Last picture is my strawberry clone that is bending and falling over because of the weight of the main Cola. I will be figuring out a way to prop her up shortly.
Surprisingly, my outdoor plants did not get killed by this Frost we had last week. One of the strawberry Kush plants you cannot even tell it was frozen and is still solid green. The other three are definitely showing signs that they were damaged but are still alive and growing. Looking at the long-term weather forecast I think I will still be able to get a couple more weeks of growth out of them. I will try and post some pictures of them as soon as I get a chance and can get out to them.
She looks to be finishing great. ![]()
She is showing color early. Not a bad leaf ratio on her either ![]()
Kind of shows how it got its name Gold Leaf.
The new light and the tent sure seem to make a difference and how they’ve grown. Everything is showing a lot of Cloudy trichomes already and all of these buds are hard as rocks. It might be the only time I’ve ever seen these plants finish on the schedule from the Breeders info.
I am going to try and post a picture of outdoor gold leaf plant. A week ago that’s got frozen and when I felt the leaves and Bud sites they were crunchy Frozen. How is survived is beyond me, some very tough plants.
Next picture is my strawberry Kush that got frozen and definitely is showing damage from it.
My other two strawberry plants look better than this one but not as nice as the gold leaf.
Again I am having problems uploading pictures, I was trying to post pictures of some of my indoor buds, I think I can only do it one picture at a time so here we go.
The two above are from my Gold Leaf clone.
These next two are Northern Lights Auto, they love to Foxtail. My First Northern Lights Fox tailed the same way so I’m pretty sure it is genetic.
this one is my strawberry Kush clone. It is the stickiest flower I have ever touched, if you work around this plant your fingers will be very gooey.
These two pictures are of my Northern Lights number 2 that has a completely different pheno than the first two Northern Lights that I have grown. So far it is shorter, bushier, and has a lot more Bud sites than the first couple Northern Lights that I’ve grown. It was also topped by insects 2 days after its sprouted out of the ground so maybe this has something to do with it
Nice. Out of likes again. She is a chubby girl, has some nice color too. ![]()
Time for my all too infrequent update, plants are growing like weeds. My indoor plants are maturing faster than I could imagine and it looks like my harvesting dates will all be met with plenty of time to have everything away and hidden by mid November.
I harvested two of my outdoor plants the strawberry Kush that got frost burn so bad and my gold leaf. I still have two strawberry Kush outside, one looks like it’s going to be a decent producer, better than the first two I harvested and the second plant outdoors really isn’t producing much at all. I was lucky to pull maybe three ounces off the two plants that are harvested from outside.
Tonight Northern Lights number one gets chopped, Bud washed, and hung to dry. It’s in to week 10 and the foxtailing is so bad I can’t even tell what the original trichomes look like because they are buried under all of the new growth.
