Advice for Flower boosters

The best advice I can give the outdoor enthusiasts is to use local soil and start a compost pile. Use hay to top dress and feed worms! It wont be instant but it will be alive and natural. Your plants will love it. I will rotate my weed patch justblike vegitable gardens, not grow in the same soil every year. The reason is that certain organism are not good for plants and will seek them out. If you rotate your crops, they dont get time to establish themselves. Things lije rusts and blight, harmful nematodes or soil born diseases. So I move my tomatoes and garlic and weed to different spots.

I think garrigans super soil would be awesome for an indoor grow, and subcools too. But man that expensive! Good thing they have a business in that because they fill 1000 gallon pots in that shit! Let me tell you that aint cheap weed!
I guarantee that I can grow just as good a pkant as them in my cheap assed garden soil if I get the sun. Lately it hasnt been ideal.

On the other hand, what takes me a few years to get going right, they can whip up in a tarp and heat up in a garbage can in a few months. You do have to let supersoil cook you know, you cant just plant in it.

Thanks for the info! Will rolly pollies help? Like the bugs when u touch it turns itself into a ball? When I do plan on guerilla growing outside in a 100 or 150 gal pots I’m for sure going to use DIY soil. Is 3 month soil cook a little to less of time for it to be done cooking or wait longer? And can you store the cooked soil for later use? I’ve tried growing tomatos before and I failed miserably they had died lol @Cannabian

just follow the soil build, subcool has a video of them making it, he explains the process. I just cant justify the cost of all those components because I use no less than 100 gallons a plant. It would be ok I someone else was paying for it

Okay I will. You always grow no less than 100 gal pots?? Do you have any pics of it in mid to late flower? @Cannabian

I do have some pics, on my computer hard drive, sadly that crashed and I have to take it to a tech to see if I can rescue them, and a junch of other important files. After a while, my phone gets clogged with photos lol. This grow I will be posting regularly, and by August they should start to flower? At least I hope so. The Afgans maybe a bit sooner? Doubt it, never had a plant start flowering here before August.
Actually, I do have an Alien Rift that was directly planted in the ground. Here is a shot or 2…

Oh okay. Do you mainly do Fems? Geez that bud looks beautiful! Im hoping soon I’ll have a greenhouse set up haven’t decided cheaper better route for it yet @Cannabian

I haven’t tried normal seeds yet just Fem and about 5 autos. I am planning on getting Normal seeds so I can start trying to cross breed plants. How do you control humidity in greenhouse?? @Cannabian

i dont, it controls itself. The bottom 2 feet all the way across opens and the top has 4 - 3x3 opening vents on the back wall. When it gets hot, the heat rises and exits the upper vents, that creates a flow of cool air at the bottom. Like a chimney draw

the above photo is a plant that I sprouted in my garden for shits and giggles. I had to put the poly tunnel uo to keep the fall rains and frost off it. Its fast to set up, just cut rebar 4 feet long and pound em where you need em and bend some pvc pipe onto them, throw the poly over and weight the ends down with rocks or firewood. Bam! Yer dun.

Oh, the big advantages with regular seed is that you can control veg length, and you can prune for shape. Shouldnt prune autos, cuz the plant could flip during recovery and you wouldnt have new established tops yet.
Breeding is a whole different ball game. For one thing, i order to effectively breed for trait, you need to be able to plant lots of seed. You need to pheno hunt for desired breeding traits to select suitable candidates. Just to make seed is not really effective. Out of 100 seeds planted you discard 40-50 as males, then the remainder are selected based on size, shape, terps and stuff like leaf shape, internode spacing, branching density etc. Once you shortlist that you are down to maybe 10 decent plants? You then need to clone them to secure the genetic material for later crossing. After they are harvested and fhe clones are made, the dope is dried and cured. The moms are now almost 2 months old now and the harvest is ready to be sampled. Each plant is smoked, and smelled, and such and weighed too for final yield, and decisions are made on the final 2 moms. The choice being made, the remaining moms are discarded. Then a male is selected primarily for health and terps. The 2 or so males are then raised for pollen and the dust is stored in a freezer. The moms are again cloned and the clones are grown to pollenate with the males. Seed is made, and the process is repeated.

That’s what I was going to do. I was going to use my 3x3 tent to pollenate male a female eventually but of course going for traits too. That stuff that’s over rebar and PVC pipe that keeps rain out does it get good sunlight in greenhouse? Yeah I’ve heard about that I will have to do alot of seeds and pick male and female and I’m willing to do that. I want a female blue gelato so I can breed with another strain. So when you cross breed when plant produces seeds I take clones from them and do process over again? I’ve seen some massive buds on normal seeds vs auto and Fems. I would love to make Fems though. Is humidity good in greenhouse? Or can control it easy?? I’m for sure going to use PVC pipe and rebar just haven’t found out what length and width I want. All I know is I want enough SQ foot space and be able to have rows I can be able to walk through so I can prune, top, defoilate eetc. Easier. But with greenhouse I am wanting to use nothing but tea and all organic living soil. I feel it’s better feeding soil rather than plant itself. Will the best plant genetics picked will it have seeds in it and how many times would I have to repeat process? @Cannabian

Well, thats a lot to answer. To start with, greenhouses are problematic in summer time because they tend to get very hot. You meed a lot of ventilation and or remove the covering until needed in the fall. As for cloning and breeding, yes thats the general idea, you look for traits that you want and select those plants for clones. Name the clones and continue to grow the mothers out and see how they finally do. Test the weed from the mothers and tend the clones. Once you have marrowed the field to a few selected females, do the same with males. Select the best male and collect the pollen better if you can select from a few males but thats often very difficult as pollen tends to be very difficult to control. Breed the male/s with the selcted females… it is possible to use more than one male per female. Do not expect the seed to be true to trait from the first or second or third iteration for that matter. It may be necessary to retain the original mom and back cross her a few times as well. The entire process takes a great deal of time and patience. Good luck and have fun.
