So I was checking on my Sour D auto 24 hour light experiment and I noticed one of the leaves looked different. I’ve had 5 and 7 tipped leaves but this one has 8. Then I looked around and the real pretty one has 9 tips. Is this a common thing? I obviously don’t have that many plants grow under my belt but I never see this in any pictures.
Also what’s the best way to preserve this leaf for framing?
I have had up to 11, though its rare
That’s awesome. I noticed a bunch are 8 or so. A quick read on another forum someone said and I don’t know how much truth to it but it sounded good and that was: if the plant is healthy and doing well it can go from 7 > 8 then 8 to 9 then 9 to 10 and so on. It wants to soak up more light and continue to thrive or something along those lines which sounds good lol.
usually its odd numbers. 3, 5, 7, 9, 11
I have seen 4 and 8 on my plants but they are not symmetrical when it happens. Its just something the plants do at times. And yes it seems the healthier the plant the bigger and more leaves it produces.
I’ll have to check all my leaves again. The one in top right of the first picture I uploaded had 8 and then this one as well has 8.
At the 5th node before the top, my GFOG started putting out 11 leaf fans but after I topped all new growth was back to 7.
Even number fingers is a fluke not a normal progression. Normally they go from 3/5/7/9/11 once in awhile a leaf will be missing one of the smallest fingers like yours. Also when they are flowering they can put out all kinds of wierd leaves.
Huh that is weird I’m going to go count how many even number ones I have. This experiment is getting interesting. Overall it’s healthy and doing amazing and now I’m seeing a lot of different numbered leaves.
If you want to save that leaf do it the old fashion way. Put it between two sheets of waxed paper, put it on a flat surface with a heavy book on top. I found bunch of violets I preserved in a book of my mothers when I was young. Over 50 years only and still purple.
I am sure there is a new way with some chemical and the microwave LOL!
My red super skunk auto is putting out all three
Droopy cuz I woke her up I saw 9 on my plant didn’t think much of it til I saw this. It’s my first grow.
Good I been thinking of this since I noticed two plants, starting with the first new leaf goin upwards, one did 1-3-3-5-5-7 and one did 1-3-5-5-7. Now I got one that skipped the 5 and went 1-3-7 and its throwing off 9 fingers, but so is another that went 1-3-5-7.
I wish I knew what it all meant and how to manipulate that
here is the one that grew a 1-petal new leaf, then a 3-petal, and the third node had 7 petal fan leaves. Seventh node by 3.5 weeks old and under 8 inches tall. 5 nodes in under 3 inches of stem! Now its covered in 9’s (born July 1)
