How deep can you bury them? I would guess all the way to the branches they will go crazy in the sunshine and turn into trees

So im in need again. What do you do when your cover crop is getting out of control? Just trim it back or turn it under?

I was gonna take my emitters out and hit it with the weed wacker? Yes? Try not to kill em just give them a hair cut?

I would turn the center about the size of a 5 gal bucket and leave the outside edges.

When it’s time to plant make sure you dig out a large enough area to allow the pot plant get some roots established without it being overwhelmed by the cover crop

Sounds good to me. Didnt want to plant them in there when the cover crop is taller than the plants. But ya, i got it, just make it nice and loose again three times the size of my pot. Thanks buddy.
I might trim with sheers too

I buried about a foot of the main stem and bent her over a little bit. The other tall one is gonna be buried a little bit deeper and bent over also. I ran out of daylight so shell go in the ground in this hole

I put a layer of Oregon super soil at the bottom and a layer of last years soil on top of that. After I put the plant in the hole it’ll be covered in OSS and topped off with last years soil.

For reference thats a 10gal pot that I used to make the hole at the bottom of the hole. I dug out last years hole and put the 10gal pot in and put a bag of OSS around it. Then I put a 6in layer of last years soil on top that and pulled the pot out. If you zoom in you can see the OSS layer at the bottom

Now I know it would have to be a heck of a hole but would it have been possible and or beneficial to plant it another 1-2’ deeper just to add to the root system on a larger scale ??

They look like shit from a russet mite infestation that I think I have under control. Ive been spraying them with purecrop1. They’ve lost a lot of leaves and branches.
