It does look pretty healthy, the tops looks a little yellow, like it could use a little more nitrogen, or maybe a bit stronger nutrient mix.
It started flowering today, its only 7" tall!
It looks good. Weeks 4-6 is when autos typically explode upward at about 1" per day. But you arent going to feed it any nutes?
Im using big bud nutrients, i just started using it when it started flowering, im also using it on my feminized plants as well. Never tried it befor so lets hope for the best! Thanks for the info PaulieWalnuts! Any more tips would be greatly appreciated being this is my first grow!!
I didnāt think Big Bud was a stand alone additive? I donāt know though, Iāve never used it.
Make sure it is supplying most of the nutrients your plant will continue to need for the periods you are using it, especially if it is designed for hydro, it might be counting on some of those extra nutrients being supplied by the primary hydro mix. In soil, there might be a possibility some of those will continue to be supplied by the soil, but I canāt be sure.
Im not sure if its a stand alone additive? This is my first nutrient purchase as well as my first grow. I ordered BIG BUD because it had the best reviews on the sight i was buying from. What would be your choice of nutrients for autoflowers?
Well, I think it would say, like it is usually part of a system or series, to go with other nutrients from the same manufacturer.
Also it should have a list of its nutrients, NPK nutrients as well as what micro-nutrients it includes. If it is including at least some of everything, it may very well be a stand alone and might be just fine to use.
As for my choice of nutrients for autoflowers, I would probably do the same for autos, or even more-so for autos that I usually do for my soil or hydro indoor grows, Iād use a steady low dose nutrient system that doesnāt need to be adjusted at various stages or phases of growth, something like the āsimpleā Lucas formula. Apparently there might be different Lucas formulas out there, so Iām referring to the one that is not adjusted or changed with more nitrogen during veg and then adjusted to be less nitrogen and more phosphorus and potassium during bloom. I prefer to keep it very simple and steady, the whole grow, with the aforementioned āsimpleā Lucas ratios which can found online in numerous places and can be used with virtually any nutrient brand.
And I say especially for autos, as then you donāt have to predict or judge what phase of growth the auto is in and then have to adjust your nutrient mix.
Well that explains your yellowish light green new growth, this nutrient mix has absolutely no nitrogen, and as light green as your new growth is, it could use more nitrogen, the soil might be running out.
This would be more for a plant more significantly into the flower/bloom phase. Most likely it is designed to be used with another nutrient supplying a medium to low dose of everything, all the NPK and all the micro-nutrients. Of course N of the NPK is nitrogen, this only has P and K.
So should i try a total different nutrient or find a way to add nitrogen to the mix? Thank you so much MacGyverStoner for taking the time to teach a new grower such as my self! Iāve learned a few things allready from your shared knowledge!
Having a general idea of what is in your soil might help, you can even get drops or tablets that can actually measure some of the individual most important nutrients, you can find these kits at most garden/hardware supply stores like ace hardware or the big box stores. But I think at least having a EC or PPM reading of the general dissolved nutrient solids from the run-off wold give us a good enough idea to not over do and nute burn anything.
Maybe something like a nutrient with a NPK of say 4-4-4 or maybe 7-7-7 could compliment this nutrient. It has a 0-15-35, so add it to a 4-4-4, both at full strength and the result should then equal 4-19-39, which might work out well, especially during bloom/flower.
Im using MG moisture control potting soil, ive never added anything to it other than the big bud nutrient i started using just a few days ago(at first sign of flowering). The plant has been in this soil 32 days. Dont know how much of the original nutrients in the soil it has used. Looks like i will be off to the store tomorrow for meters! Obviously a must have! Thanks again
For future reference - this is the method I followed from the start. It is simple. It is cheap. It works well. I have no experience with the expensive nutes - so I dont really know how much better my results would have been. But as a newbie - I feel this is a great place to start:
I have a question for you all I am in Kentucky an itās getting cool out I have just got my seeds an I put them into 5 gallon pots they are ww autoās I got my hps mh light at 50% of it light I no the dirt needs to be warm is why Iām used it after the seeds start to come up will I need to change lights or will this be ok
She looks good
