I’m a big fan of worm castings Each grower has their own conditions, some common but most unique to their area or more local to their particular situation.
Like, a lot of growers are using municipal tap water and need to let it sit for a period of time to let the chlorine dissipate out. In my case, I use well water and it is very acidic, comes out at under 5.0 pH, too low growing cannabis in soil.
And some growers use an inert medium and need to add the nutes. Or they’re using nute charged soil that becomes depleted mid grow. I am currently growing organic and started mixing my own soil, two parts of which are Fox Farms soil products. First time I did this was last grow - I’ve got some more cooking right now for the next. Last grow, I had two sisters of the same batch grow side by side, one I had to top dress (nutes) 3 times, the other none. She grew her whole life on what was available in the soil. Sounds like you were fortunate in this way.
Ha! Watch me totally bomb at trying photos. Oye! Never know. I am sure I could be making them ever better and pushing quantity by doing additives but I figure I will leave well enough alone. Its been an interesting learning experience so far and just really fun to watch.
Top O The Morning ! It has been a while so I figured I would check in. On my 3rd grow and the 3 wise ladies (kiwi cheeze/northern haze, mystic gorilla and double grape) are looking fabulous. They are just over a week into flowering and growing very well. I think they look happy. I am pretty sure my tent is over crowded so I figured I would thin them out and trimmed off some little popcorn buds from the lower canopies last night so the more prominent buds could get a boost. I accidentally topped one of them, purposely topped one and left one natural as I haven’t done that with any of my autos so it will be neat to see her finished. Anyhow this is still so much fun! Now I am on to starting seeds for veggies and flowers! Thanks for all the tips and assistance when I started out. Cheers!
@Growdoc Question for you. I put in a 2nd light a few days ago and I am noticing some of the top leaves turning down and some bleaching on another plant. I can only raise my lights a few more inches as they will then be at the top of the tent. What are your thoughts? Let them go and see what happens? Or will my final product be compromised by letting them get sunburned ?
Do you have the photon app? It’s free and would help with telling how much they are getting. If not, what’s your lights? It sounds like they may be getting more than they want, the app will tell us how much too much. You could also back off on the dimmers if your lights are equipped.
Woah looks like those ladies were getting cooked. It read somewhere between 1600-1900. I moved the lights up and dropped the intensity to 70. Looks like that immediately helped my hunidity and vpd as well. Win! Thank you
