yep There are many options to choose threw…but they all fundamentally do the same thing…cant turn on the genni till the house is off…cant turn on the house till the genni is off…
The simplest i know of is literally a thing you put over the two breakers and you have to turn one breaker off to slide the contraption out of the other breakers way to turn it on.
ALL the way up to SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY AND MAKE THIS WORK WITH ALEXA!!
I’m totally familiar with those breaker lockouts use them all the time at work
This is what i did at my moms place…similar anyway
so she flips that switch and Grid power is off…start the generator…and the whole house has power like normal…Grid is up…shut generator off and flip the switch back to grid…(its just the breaker in from the genni and the grid tied together)

top breakers get pushed down/off then the red thing can slide left and the generator breaker can be turned on

I mocked up a solar system for my room a little while ago…if memory serves i decided i could go completely off the grid with extra power after Grow room and life for about $5200~$5400.
I don’t remember adding batteries tho 0_o
That’s panels and inverters and wiring and such making enough power during the day to run threw the night… i still have to build a storage room and what not.

I plan to build them from old laptop batteries… so i wont know what i will spend on them until the time comes…

Holy cow it’s all starting to make sense. The reason for the oversized genni is due to me fore seeing a exhaust fan for the room and an ac heater upgrade to a mini split system. Not sure what the mini split will pull but I thought that 10000 would be more than adequate for the later upgrades. Or as to not have to make another purchase in a year or two.
This is my current heater ac and dehumidifier which works great I would just like to have something that takes up no room and imagine the brownie points I’ll get when I roll that into her on the next power outage. I’ll be looking like a knight in shining armor lol. She won’t be able to call me selfish no more at least for that

I think these will give me an inkling of what i am doing here… If all else fails…or i get bored…i can just start small and bump it up until the CO2 controller shuts off.
